We are getting ready to welcome you to our exhibition of prints by legendary artist Marc Chagall this weekend! Our team have been busy hanging the exhibition which includes lithographs and etchings by Chagall, exploring themes of poetry, religion, the zodiac and love!

Join us this weekend for and the opening of this show, from 11am - 5pm Saturday and Sunday.

Discover the art of Cardboard Cut!

Next Wednesday 10th a June we are exploring cardboard cut, similar in some ways to drypoint etching, but with a range of tones and mark making to create. It’s surprising what you can achieve with the humble- and cost effective- material of card! This stunning example of a cardboard cut by Sheila Robinson in our archive is inspirational, the way she made her plates to created a multitude of tones, lines and textures.

If you like intaglio you will love this course, and it’s brilliant to experiment with less expensive materials at a time when metal is very costly.

You’ll ink up and print your work on the etching presses as you would with an etching.

Mark Anstead from will be guiding you through a sensory journey, exploring wines from France surrounded by beautiful work by Chagall.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you next weekend, 6th & 7th June for Open Studios!

We’ll be open 11-5 both days and we are pleased to present a new exhibition of lithographs by Marc Chagall in our gallery space. Come and look round our studios, gallery, archive display and we’ll also have prints for sale by our members in the browser, as well as all the Chagall works in the exhibition.

On Sunday the gardens at Thurlow Hall next door will be open 1-5pm (£5 entry to the gardens) with tea and cake up for grabs in a totally idyllic setting!

Our staff will be on hand to talk to you about printing in our studios, our historic printing equipment and courses we offer, as well as our open access membership or anything else you want to know!

Free entry to Curwen and lots of free parking too, and fully accessible.

Stay cool in our studios! It’s a bloomin’ gorgeous hot day here out in sunny Suffolk, but we are keeping cool making work in our fully air conditioned studios.
