LSH's new project. Spread the word!

The Greater Senses – Wine as if all the senses mattered.
(‘Cause they do.) Introducing a new way to think about and experience and maybe even enjoy wine. Covid and its aftermath has brought new attention to a simple fact: Not everyone has a great sense of smell. In fact, some of us – for whatever reasons – can barely smell most things. There’s been discussion of this in the wine world, which is heavily dependent on having a good ability to detect aromas, but until now, no one has actually taken the next logical step.
Here it is. An approach to wine that doesn’t think the nose is the only sensory instrument there is. Wine tasting using all of the senses. Well, except maybe hearing. (There’s a post on that.)
Run by Chris Kaplonski – ex-Cambridge academic, wine-industry trained, and with a lousy, if not quite non-existent sense of smell. Updated twice weekly (Sunday-ish and Wednesday-ish), focusing mostly on reviews, with other bits as the mood hits or seems called for.

Once again, LSH hijacks AE's page to announce a new, erm, announcement on behalf of Insects & Wine.
An updated update, or new news – Insects and wine!

Insects & Wine is momentarily coopting AE's page to announce:
We are back! (Sort of) – Insects and wine!
Posted on 9th November 20209th November 2020 by ChrisWe are back! (Sort of) We have news. Whether it is good news or bad depends on your view on edible insects and sustainability. We like to think it is good news, but that really depends on who is reading this. I’d presume you are a fan of edibl...

Shall we play a game?
This is taken from a very popular wine website.
How many errors can *you* find? AE is at three, so far...

LSH finally stops watching cat (and dog!) videos long enough to finish a blog post:
Natural consequences: lessons from Geographical Indications - Anthroenology
A research project on the intersection of sustainability, the sensual experiences of consumption and the redefinition of taste via wine.

Wise advice from the 19th century vigneron Louis Jadot:
There are four things to do when tasting a wine. First look at it and say “what a lovely colour”. Then smell and say “what a beautiful bouquet”. Thirdly, drink it and say “what a good wine”. And lastly, look at your glass and remark, with pathos, “what a pity it is empty”
(Quoted in an old Decanter column by Michael Broadbent.)

After months of quiet, there's finally a new blogpost over on Anthroenology:

First post on AE in a bit too long, but, (to quote a friend): Hey, ho. Go read about sustainability vs veganism here:

A new blog post on something LSH has been thinking about for a while: the use of categories / labels in wine, and do we need them?
