what are we debating tomorrow? Bit of a controversial one here... But how about debating the age of consent?

29/02/2016

Hello everybody! I hope you all had a great half term and your mocks all went well! Tomorrow we're going to be debating "Should the UK remain in the EU?"

10/02/2016

Hello everyone, thanks for coming along today! I think we had a great debate. :) Next Tuesday we'll be debating "Can humanity function without governance?" (Thank you William)

08/02/2016

It's 6PM and any new nominations or standings will no longer be counted. We wish all candidates the best of luck in the election tomorrow!

08/02/2016

Hello everyone, just to clear up any confusion concerning the election tomorrow, each candidate will give a short (2-3 minute) talk and answer any questions the group has for them, then the vote will go ahead. Then, depending on how much time the election takes, we will continue with the debate as normal. Because the whole "Does God exist?" debate is a very big thing and people will have a lot to say about it, we're going to devote a full session to it rather than squeezing it in with the election.

The candidates at the moment are as follows:
- Peter East
- Henry Collins
The deadline for standing or nominating will be at 6PM tonight.

Hi everyone, can nominees put themselves forwards in advance for Tuesday's election?

03/02/2016

Thank you everyone who came along today. We tried to mix things up a bit by assigning people sides of the debate and received mixed results! Needless to say that we won't be doing that very often. Next Tuesday we've got the rather large topic of God's existence and the topic for next Wednesday is coming soon!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the debate today! I think we had a very successful debate and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's debate which will be "Should we legalise prostitution?" Same time, same place, different day. We're going to try something new tomorrow. Basically everyone gets one minute to make a point, and then anyone who has a directly related counter argument (which is not a point in itself), or other response has 30 seconds in which to say it. This should keep the debate fast paced and flowing.

Okay, so it's official, the question we will be debating tomorrow lunchtime, in g116 is "Should we discontinue our foreign aid?"

31/01/2016

You might be aware of the recent leadership reshuffle within the LRDC, basically Henry is no longer organising and in charge of LRDC, this responsibility has fallen to the leadership committee and it's representative, at the moment, Peter East is holding this position. Because this club is a democracy, and there has been no formal election, Peter's post is temporary until either he, or another representative is voted in. We will be accepting nominations for new candidates from Monday 1st Feb until Monday 8th Feb and the election will be held on Tuesday 9th Feb. Talk to Peter in person if you'd like to step forward or nominate someone (with their consent of course!) or you can directly message this page.

Hi everyone, I thought it'd be nice to discuss the pros and cons of foreign aid for the majority our Tuesday session this week (Thank you Connor for this suggestion), after a short talk about the new structure and organisation of the club.
