Magdalene College Choir

There are still some spaces in this year's choir - so, if you're coming up to Magdalene as an undergraduate or postgraduate, get in touch with the Precentor to arrange an audition!

Music, fellowship, community, learning, travel, themed dinners - what's not to love.

Find out more on our website - link in bio 😎

Making some upgrades this summer 👀

Tonight is the last regular Chapel service - of term, of the academic year, and, for our leavers, ever! We bid them an official farewell at Evensong at 6.15pm, during which we will attempt to squeeze in music by Leighton, Balfour Gardiner, Howells, and some mighty Bach played by outgoing organ scholar Alice.

Organ scholar Amelia at the helm for Communion this week.

Sunday evensong includes music by Thomas Weelkes, 17th century composer and a notorious drunkard who frequently turned up inebriated to services. In tribute to which there will be drinks after the service. (Edit: I'm told there would be drinks anyway...)

A wangle in the chilly Fellows' Garden to kick off Ascension Day. God is gone up! And no wonder, given it's 3 degrees down here...

Lovely light in this photo by organ scholar Amelia.

Tomorrow is Ascension Day! You can catch us at 8.30am Choral Mattins outside in the Fellows' Garden, or at Evensong at 6.15pm in Chapel. After that, the Choir attends the Cripps & Supervisors' Dinner and sings madrigals afterwards 🥰

Tonight is the first of our twice-termly services of plainchant candlelit Compline. 20 minutes of serene chant and contemplative music from the choir, and the Chapel at its most beautiful. 9.30pm, followed by port/hot chocolate.

Please note that, despite the listings on choralevensong . org (over which we have no control) there are no sung services in Chapel until the beginning of next term (Sunday 3 May). Thank you!
