This week, we are collecting donations for our Harvest Festival in support of Jimmy’s Cambridge.

In Monday’s Infant and Junior assembly, Mr Fletcher reflected on the words of G. K. Chesterton, encouraging us to see harvest as a time for attentiveness, gratitude and generosity: noticing what we have, giving thanks for it, and letting that gratitude shape how we respond to others.

Heritage has always been a wonderfully generous community, and a fantastic pile of donations is already beginning to block the door of Number 17! There is still time to contribute, and families can bring items into school until Friday.

Take a look at the final slide for the items Jimmy’s is currently most in need of.

Thank you to everyone who has already given so generously!

Considering a change during the primary years?

For families thinking about a move into Year 3, or simply wondering whether the current school is still the right fit, this can be a natural moment to reconsider the next stage.

At Heritage, Years 2 and 6 are not dominated by SATs preparation. Instead, pupils continue with a rich, broad curriculum that builds strong academic foundations, good habits, confidence and a love of learning – while preparing them well for the move into senior school.

Year 3 can be an especially good point to make the switch: early enough to become fully part of the community, and with plenty of time to grow in independence before the senior years.

Open Morning – Saturday 3 October, 10.00–12.30

Registration is now open on our website. Come and see whether Heritage could be the right next step for your child.

At Heritage, enrichment isn’t an add-on. It’s integral to the curriculum and the life of the school.

Every week, dedicated enrichment time is set aside in the timetable for pupils to learn in different ways – beyond the usual rhythm of lessons, but never separate from the purpose of education.

Just a few weeks into term, that has already meant Year 7 bicycle skills, an Upper Prep visit to Wandlebury Country Park, and a team-building morning for the whole Senior School – with plenty more underway.

Enrichment brings together so much of what Heritage was founded upon: practical skills, curiosity, independence, teamwork, confidence and the chance to encounter the world beyond the classroom.

Sometimes the learning is serious. Sometimes it is adventurous. Very often it is great fun.

But it is never simply an extra: it is simply a part of how we believe children learn best.

Cambridge parents can feel they are faced with a false choice:

Protect the breadth and joy of childhood – or pursue exceptional academic results.

At Heritage, we don’t accept that trade-off.

Our pupils are challenged by a demanding curriculum in small classes, while still having time and space for books, music, art, sport, nature, friendship and family life.

And the results speak for themselves: in 2026, Heritage achieved its strongest GCSE results yet, with 87% of grades awarded at 9–7. The second highest results in Cambridge.

We’re so pleased to be back!

A couple of weeks into the new school year, and Heritage is already feeling wonderfully settled again – classrooms full of activity, friendships picking up where they left off, and plenty of new discoveries underway.

It has been especially lovely to welcome our new Lower Prep pupils, who have already been busy exploring, creating, playing and learning together.

These first weeks bring so much: new routines, new friendships, growing confidence and the beginnings of a whole year of learning.

A very warm welcome to all the children and families joining Heritage this term. We’re so delighted you’re here.

- What if you want outstanding GCSE results – but not in an exam-factory setting?

- What if senior school could develop character as deliberately as it develops intellect?

- What if a screen-free school day gave teenagers more space to concentrate, think deeply and engage fully with one another?

At Heritage, senior pupils are challenged by a rigorous curriculum that reaches well beyond the exam syllabus. Small classes and high expectations support strong academic outcomes, while pupils continue to read widely, discuss ideas, make music and art, spend time outdoors and take increasing ownership of their learning.

Our screen-free approach is part of that same philosophy: protecting attention, conversation and deep thinking rather than allowing devices and everyday ed-tech to compete for pupils’ focus. Technology is taught purposefully, rather than allowed to dominate the school day.

- What if the early years could be academically ambitious without rushing childhood?

- What if Years 2 and 6 didn’t have to revolve around SATs?

- What if children could grow in confidence, curiosity and independence in a school where they are genuinely known?

At Heritage, our distinctive early-years curriculum is intentionally designed to develop good habits, a love of learning, character and resilience from the start. Small classes and a screen-free school day create space for books, nature, music, art, conversation and deep attention – alongside strong academic foundations.

Children are surrounded by more information than ever – and their attention is being pulled in more directions than ever.

Education cannot respond simply by giving them more information. To learn deeply, children must be able to focus, listen carefully, stay with a difficult idea and think without constant interruption – and continue this outside of schooltime too.

Too few schools make developing this capacity a central part of the education itself. At Heritage, it shapes our curriculum, our screen-free environment and the rhythm of the whole school day. Attention is not merely expected from pupils; it is deliberately taught and practised.

Because education is not only about what children learn. It is also about developing their capacity to learn.

And this approach delivers academically: in 2026, 87% of our GCSE grades were awarded at 9–7 - our strongest results ever.

At Heritage, pupils learn without tablets or interactive whiteboards. Homework is done and marked by hand.

This isn't nostalgia. It is a deliberate choice to protect children's attention and ability to focus - and make room for books, conversation, poetry, music, art, nature and thoughtful teaching.

And it doesn't mean compromising on academic ambition: in 2026, 87% of our GCSE grades were awarded at 7-9.

Year after year, our GCSE Computer Science results are outstanding.

Screen-free. Not ambition-free.
