🎓 What a wonderful way to close the spring term at Parkside Sixth! Today, we celebrated the hard work and achievements of our Y12 and Y13 students. 🏆 From academic excellence to outstanding contributions to our community, it was inspiring to see the talents and responsibility showcased.

Year 12 students went to London on Friday for the UK University and Apprenticeship Search Fair and came back with lots of useful information and advice about all the opportunities and options available to them after they finish their Diploma!

Today, Year 12 students are heading to London for the UK University and Apprenticeship Search Fair, where they can get first-hand information and advice from over 120 of exhibiting universities and apprenticeship providers to help them make the right decisions about their future. They can also attend a number of seminars, including Why an Apprenticeship, University Life & Courses, Russell Group University Seminar and Studying a Creative Degree. Today, applicants for September 2024 have started visiting Parkside Sixth for their Advice and Guidance meeting. They will be discussing the courses they have applied for and their future career aspirations with a member of staff to ensure we offer them the best possible option.
The IB Diploma is a very flexible programme, so we will help you make your decision by asking questions such as:
What subjects do you enjoy studying?
What subjects do you think you would do well in?
What subjects are relevant to your career or university goals?
What are your strengths that you can build on?

We have started a formal four-week consultation on the future of Parkside Sixth.
This consultation, and the decision that will follow, will not affect students currently studying with us or those who have applied to join us in September.
The consultation period will run from 13 February 2024 to 11 March 2024. A public meeting will be held on 05 March 2024. Alternatively, you can submit a consultation response form.

What a sweet celebration! Our Parkside Sixth students brought the festive spirit to our Christmas party. Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this day extra special.

At the end of November, Dr J Perez-Silva come in as a speaker to talk to Year 12 about using technology in a biology research career.

Last week some Year 12 and Year 11 students went to a Maths Inspiration event. They listened to a range of talks including the maths behind juggling patterns, non-Euclidean geometry in computer games and understanding risk. Thanks to the speakers for making maths fun!

Maths Inspiration - Inspire your teenagers with our interactive maths show Maths Inspiration is a programme of maths enrichment lecture shows for teenagers around the UK. It's a chance for Year 11s and sixth formers to experience inspiring maths speakers live, in theatres and concert halls

On the 3rd October seven Y12s from Parkside Sixth and six of our best Y11 mathematicians joined tens of thousands of students around the world by taking part in the UK Maths Trust “Senior Maths Challenge”. The results are now in, and they performed brilliantly! Two students received a Bronze Certificate, three a Silver Certificate, and two Y12s achieved in the top 10% of students worldwide, receiving a Gold Certificate and booking themselves a coveted place in the next round later this month.
Meanwhile, three of our Parkside Sixth girls were offered free entries t, and invited to partake in, the Maths Olympiad for Girls in October. They had 2.5 hours to tackle just 5 challenging questions and two of our students achieved a Certificate of Merit. Well done!

During the Spanish lesson, we engaged in a thought-provoking speaking task focused on conserving cultural identity.
It was fascinating to see our Year 12 students passionately sharing their thoughts and taking pride in their own cultural backgrounds, while appreciating those from all over the world.
