The weeks are flying by so quickly, and I can’t believe this little one is almost 3 weeks old! 😍
He’s doing so well and I’ve been monitoring his feeds closely overnight 👶🏻
He’s not the biggest baby but is now back up to birth weight, and has been managing 4 hour stretches. He is exclusively breast fed with one expressed breast/bottle feed.
He feeds like a trooper so I’m sure he’ll be a little chunky monkey as soon as we know it!
His hand looks so big here but it’s so teeny tiny and just about as cute as they come 💙

This made me laugh so much 🤣

Children say the funniest things sometimes don’t they?

I really wish I’d kept a memory book of all the funny words and statements my children said when they were little ❤️

As most of you know I’ve been working with newborn babies for well over 30 years.
Back in the day we never had the blue line on nappies, we typically changed the babies nappy at every feed or if they had soiled or had a sore bottom.
I’m sure the absorbency of the nappies today is not so good, especially since the blue line has been created in more recent years.
Of course babies need to be comfortable and not sit in a wet nappy and I see lots of new parents concerned that they should change the nappy every time the blue line appears.
What do you do? Do you change the nappy each time baby does a single wee?

I have to say for overnight use I strongly recommend swapping to peachies nappies.
They are more expensive but you can relax knowing your baby is comfortable. The absorbency is so much better too!!

I can’t believe I’ve not come across these before now! Absolutely perfect for anyone traveling with a baby or if you are busy with an older child and out and about.
So much easier to pop them into your babies bag ready for a feed 🍼

Babies love books and it’s never too early to start with simple picture, and touch and feel books 📚🐥🚂🚙🦓🐶
Traditionally we normally read to our babies at bedtime, but anytime is good 👶🏻
Find the moment when your baby is most happy and alert. This way you’ll both enjoy the experience ❤️ Before you know it your baby will point to objects, helping to turn the pages and copying the words you say.
Don’t worry about repetition, that’s exactly how they learn and soon they will be saying “again again!!”

Stretch & Relax 😍

This little love has a bit of plumping up to do as she started off small but she’s just so chilled and angelic 😇
She’s breastfeeding well and gaining weight ❤️

This is my second time with this wonderful family and it’s so nice to see their confidence grow as parents 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

As most of you know I’ve been working with newborn babies for well over 30 years. I came across this and it’s enough to bring on a panic attack 😱 Can you believe this was deemed as healthy and normal parenting?! 🤯

As you can imagine so much has changed in the 30 years I’ve been working with newborns and no doubt in the future we will look back and see how things have moved on again.

Not everything that evolves is good or correct. Play safe, and follow the guidelines. Babies are not that complicated and don’t need lots of gimmicks that are aimed at new babies/ parents today. Simple toys and books, a walk in the park for daily fresh air.
Lots of cuddles, songs and happy faces. They really don’t need much more than that!

You are enough for your baby 👶🏻 ❤️

Oh I remember the struggle well!! 😅
Being a baby Nanny back in the 1980’s and remembering when I first started using disposables 🙏

What a game changer that was, although the cheaper brands were a bit of a nightmare as they never used to hold there stick and would easily come apart, so the moral of the story is always buy a good brand or you’ll end up paying twice 💷💷
