Welcome back to Park Street! We have had a very positive start to the new academic year at Park Street. The Woodpecker and Eagle Class children have really enjoyed their new playground! It is lovely to see them able to eat their lunch outside, in a more civilised environment. Please see the photographs below!

The Eagle and Woodpecker Class were treated to a very exciting science demonstration by Scott Marley from Imperial College. He carried out some very thrilling demonstrations, linked to the topic of fire and forces and how these have been used to develop space exploration and travel. Please ask your children about this, and enjoy the photos and videos below.

So many brilliant costumes this year! It was wonderful talking to the children (and staff) yesterday about their favourite books and how they had chosen their outfits. It was truly a great celebration of reading!

Please Sponsor Trish!
Trish Clipsham is going to be taking part in the London to Brighton walk (100k), on the weekend of 27th and 28th May. She has very kindly offered to do this to raise money for Park Street. She has a longer connection with our school than you might think, because her children came here! Please go to her ‘Go Fund Me’ page to sponsor her:

At Park Street, all the classes have been learning about the ‘Zones of Regulation’.
This is a useful way of thinking about and categorising the emotions we feel, as humans! As part of the programme, children learn to put together a toolkit for regulating their behaviour, when they feel strongly affected by particular emotions.
They will be developing a range of strategies to help them, including regulating their breathing, listening to music, doing a physical activity like trampoling or going for a walk, counting objects etc. The attached leaflet (Zones-for-parents) gives you some more information about this approach.
Please ask your children about it, and try some of the ideas at home if you can. It is always helpful when children’s learning is reinforced in all areas of their lives!
There is also more information on this website:

This will take place in the upstairs room at the Maypole.

We had a fantastic turn-out for the Chinese New Year workshop at Park Street last Thursday. The children really enjoyed learning to do calligraphy on rice paper, and making Chinese dragons. Many thanks to Fay Meng-Yuan and Ms Yan Wang, for organising this lovely opportunity for the children.

We know that many children spend time online, and we are keen to work with parents to make sure that they stay safe when browsing the internet. Please see the attached leaflet, which gives some really helpful suggestions to parents and carers for how to set privacy settings, and to make sure that children are as safe as possible. It also contains links to CEOP (https://www.ceop.police.uk/safety-centre/) and IWF (https://www.iwf.org.uk/) where you or your children can report anything you are worried about. This page of our website is also helpful:

Owls & Robin's Nativity. I am sure that you will agree that Mrs Shankland has done a marvellous job again of directing this, and Nigel Moorhouse, our Chair of Governors, has so kindly filmed it and put it together in this wonderful video. Here are a few still shots to give you a flavour!
