Our annual call for CDH Methods Fellows is LIVE⚡️

Are you a researcher, staff member or postgraduate student at in the 2026/27 academic year, who is keen to develop innovative teaching in digital methods? If yes, we want to hear from you!

Methods Fellows use their expertise in methods or practices relevant to Digital Humanities research to design and deliver a half day workshop in Michaelmas term. They are expected to attend the year-long programme and receive mentorship, support and networking opportunities along with remuneration for their teaching and participation. Individuals from all disciplines and areas of expertise are welcome to apply!

Successful applicants will join the 2026-27 cohort, contributing to a series that attracts over 200 participants each year.

🚨 CLOSING FRIDAY 🚨

Calling all UK & Ireland undergrads in their final or penultimate year of study (excluding Oxbridge): we have an opportunity for you!

Have you ever thought about postgraduate studies in the Digital Humanities (DH) or a related subject? Perhaps you don’t really know what DH is and want to find out more?

Come and explore Digital Humanities at our outreach programme this summer, designed for arts, social sciences and humanities undergraduates who are interested in learning about postgraduate options in DH and related fields!

Run with and funded by the Isaac Newton Trust, the programme offers a unique opportunity to discover postgraduate life at CDH and more broadly.

Things to note:

🟢 Applications close on Friday 5 June (apply via the link in our bio ⬆️)

🟠 Food, accommodation and travel with the UK is generously funded by the Isaac Newton Trust Widening Participation and Induction Fund

🔵 You must be available for the online sessions on 1, 3 July and 5 August as well as the in-person residential from 3-6 September 2026

🟣 The theme for the programme is Digital Archives and Decolonisation

🟡 No prior experience in DH is necessary, just an enthusiasm for learning!

Could you be Cambridge Digital Humanities’ next Teaching Associate?  👀
 
We’re looking for someone with a passion for teaching to develop, administrate and teach on our Digital Humanities courses for the next 3 years (taking up post in September 2026).

You can be at any stage of your academic career with a primary research and teaching interest in any area of DH. We are particularly interested in applicants with specialisms in: 
 
🔵 Archival and Memory Studies
🟠 Gender and Technology
🟢 Cultural Analytics (with a focus on AI methods, GIS, or visual analysis) 
 
We’re also looking for applicants who can offer skills to strengthen our practice-based teaching.

If you’ve said YES to any of these questions, the Cambridge Social Data School (SDS) might just be for you.

Applications are now open for the next SDS, taking place at from 7-11 September. The theme of the school is AI Infrastructure.

Join us on 26 May at 2pm for our Virtual Information Session, where you can hear from our Convenor, learn more about the School and ask any questions you might have.

Applications must be received by the final deadline of 23:59 (UK time) on 30 June. However, if you get your application in by 2 June you will be eligible for the early bird rate (£695).

Guess what?! 😱

The application deadline for our next Data School, Teaching and Learning Critically in an Age of Generative AI, has been extended to Friday 1 May 2026  🎉
 
Successful applicants will join a cohort of teachers, researchers, policymakers, students, informal learners and others to investigate how teaching and learning remain grounded in reality and alert to the ecological, social and educational implication of artificial intelligence systems.

We welcome applications from *anyone* interested in using critical and creative approaches to explore the impact of generative AI on teaching and learning.

Teaching Dates:

JOB OPPORTUNITY 🚨

We’re looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to support an applied computer vision and machine learning project with CAMPOP (Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure) on a fixed term basis (16 weeks full time or part time equivalent).

The successful applicant will be paid in the range of £43,310–£50,253 per annum pro rata, depending on experience.

Applications are now open for the Digital Humanities & Research Software Engineering Summer School 2026 🌻

This year’s summer school takes place from Monday 29 June to Thursday 2 July. Registration is free, bursaries are available, and applications close on 14 April.

The Summer School is co-organised by the Software Sustainability Institute, , .cambridge and , in collaboration with Digital Skills in Arts and Humanities (DISKAH) project.

It’s that time of year again ⭐️

The Cambridge Festival () is back and our researchers are contributing not one, not two, but three free public events to this year’s proceedings ⬇️

🟣 The Body and the Archive (19 March) is a participatory performance exploring sound generation as a critical technical practice. Wearable sensors will transform physiological rhythms into communal sound. The performance is led by Dr Mona Hedayati, artist and Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher at CDH.

🟠 Creating Medieval GIFs (28 March) is a workshop where participants will draw and animate medieval and contemporary visual cultures, exploring medieval and modern depictions of ‘smartness’ and intelligence through the creation of GIFs. Led by artist, scholar and Data Schools convenor , it is sure to be a creative and engaging journey!

🟢 Eleanor will also be delivering a free taster workshop in the afternoon for the Cambridge Data Schools (28 March). What is data? What isn’t data? Where does it come from and what can we do with it? Come along and find out more! No experience required - this is a great opportunity to gain a better idea of what the Data Schools are all about, without the fees!
