🔬 STEM Fun in Preschool! 🔬🌈
Today our little scientists explored a colourful experiment using oil, milk, food colouring, and syringes! 🧪✨
The children carefully used syringes to add drops of colour and observe what happened when different liquids mixed (or didn’t mix!). This hands-on activity encouraged curiosity, prediction, observation, and fine motor skill development while introducing early STEM concepts.
There were lots of “wows” as vibrant colours swirled and transformed before their eyes! 💙💚💛❤️
Learning through play helps children develop critical thinking skills, confidence, and a love of discovery.

Today our preschool explorers are going on a dinosaur trail, searching for footprints along the way! The children will use their observation skills and let their imaginations run wild as they discovered what prehistoric creatures might be lurking around every corner.
Outdoor adventures like these encourage communication, problem-solving, physical development, and a love of nature and exploration. We will have lots of roaring fun and some very brave dinosaur hunters! 🦕🌿

🚀🌍 This week at New Road we’ve been exploring the wonders of space!
The children created their own collage planets using a variety of different materials, textures, and colours; paper, metallic card, feathers, wood circles and sequins. Through creative play, they explored shape, colour, texture, and fine motor skills while learning about planets, stars, and the amazing universe around us.
So much imagination, curiosity, and wonderful conversation as we discovered what might be out there among the stars! ✨🪐

🚍 Transport Week Adventures! 🦆📚🌳
This week for Transport Week, we took our learning on the road with a special bus trip to St Ives! The children were so excited to travel together and experience a real journey.
We enjoyed a lovely visit to see the ducks, followed by a trip to the library where we explored and read a lot of books! On our way home, we stopped in the orchard for a picnic, the perfect end to a busy day!
It was a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, learn about the world around us, and make special memories 🩷

Eggs + pasta = a lovely Easter craft 🐣✨
We’ve given classic egg decorating a fun twist—gluing on pasta shapes and painting them into colourful, textured masterpieces 🎨 From tiny bows to swirly spirals, every egg turns out totally unique!

On Monday we got creative making our very own Easter eggs using pasta shapes! 🐣✨
The children loved exploring different textures and patterns as they carefully arranged and decorated their eggs. It was a fantastic activity for developing fine motor skills, creativity, and lots of imaginative thinking.
We finished with some beautiful and unique designs 💛

Kim’s game is a big hit at New Road, the children love it ⭐️
The children explore a tray full of different objects, all starting with the letter of the week, taking turns to study them carefully before we cover them up and challenge their memory to recall what they have seen. It’s amazing to watch their concentration, excitement, and growing confidence as they remember more each round!
Games like this support memory skills, language development, and observation — all while having lots of fun 😊
Why not try Kim’s Game at home? Gather a few everyday items, give your child time to look, then see how many they can remember!

Fresh air, muddy boots and curious minds 🍃
There is something magical about taking learning beyond four walls and into the great outdoors. Whether it’s a walk to the mobile library, a stomp and a splash around the orchard looking for animal tracks, or going to see the daffodils and snowdrops.
Outdoor learning isn’t just about being with nature, it’s about confidence, creativity and connection. It’s where questions are asked, imaginations run free as do the children, and even the smallest discoveries feel like big adventures ❤️
