【Gratitude to Our Volunteers: The Silent Hands Behind the Cambridge Buddha Bathing Puja】
How many pairs of silent, dedicated hands does it take to manifest a grand and solemn Puja?
As a virtuous friend beautifully reflected: "In these volunteers, I witnessed true love, selflessness, and the spirit of devotion—everyone fully immersing themselves to accomplish a virtuous deed."

Today, we dedicate our deepest gratitude and rejoice to every virtuous friend and volunteer who contributed unconditionally behind the scenes:

【The Hands That Adorned the Altar】
Thank you to our flower arrangement volunteers who personally selected in-season blooming peonies and fresh blossoms. Their focused devotion on the eve of the Puja filled the room with a sublime fragrance and established a breathtakingly solemn altar.

【Unconditional Support by Opening the Classroom】
Our immense gratitude goes to the hosts who transformed their space into the comfortable, bright, and solemn "SOW Classroom" for our learning. Special thanks to the brother who worked through the night installing sunshades and silently moved large parasols and fans to keep everyone comfortable—he was truly the most steadfast backbone behind the scenes.

【A Journey of Ten Thousand Miles with Dharma Treasures & Heartfelt Devotion】
Deepest gratitude to our class leader, who traveled all the way from Taiwan with boxes of Lamrim texts and Puja supplies to support the practitioners in the UK. We also extend our appreciation to the fellow practitioner who prepared exquisite longevity peach pastries, bringing warmth to everyone's heart.

【The Lens That Preserved Our Shared Memories】
Thank you to the fellow practitioner who quietly shouldered the photography and videography from start to finish, dedicating immense time and effort post-event to edit the photos and videos so that this pure Dharma joy could be shared and passed on.

【The Passing Down of Puja Experience】
Our sincere gratitude to the practitioners from the Cantonese Lamrim class, who unselfishly passed down their valuable experience in organizing the Buddha Bathing Puja to the Cambridge class, enabling our team to run the event much more smoothly for our very first time.

Thank you to all our silent volunteers. It is because of your dedication that the pure teachings of the Buddhas and our spiritual teachers can shine with such warm and brilliant light upon the land of the United Kingdom.

【Pure Dharma Joy • Echoes from the 2026 Cambridge Buddha Bathing Puja 】
"Modern transportation has overcome all hardships. A journey of hundreds of miles requires nothing more than a train ticket and a heart of aspiration. How effortless it has become." — Ru-Zhu

Under the brilliant May sunshine in Cambridge, the Buddha Bathing Puja hosted by Bliss Wisdom UK (BWUK) concluded with perfect harmony. Over thirty virtuous friends and fellow practitioners from Scotland, Manchester, London, and Cambridge transcended geographical distances to gather at the serene SOW Classroom, gathering together in the Buddha’s profound grace.

We have gathered this Dharma joy and moving inspiration, which illuminated the night sky of this foreign land, into a precious record of practice. With deepest gratitude for the heartfelt reflections shared by our fellow practitioners, let us rejoice together in this sublime occasion manifested through the blessings of our teachers and the collective aspirations of all:

Illuminating the Aspiration for Dharma Propagation in the UK
"Supporting this puja alongside the Cambridge practitioners—from the initial planning to every intricate detail, welcoming the Buddha statue as it inshrined into the UK, and inviting the care of the Abbot—everything was beautifully accomplished through the blessings of our teachers. Seeing the focused devotion on every single face during the offerings and the bathing of the Buddha, I am filled with boundless rejoice and joy!" — Jane

A Journey of Ten Thousand Miles in Pure Reliance
"After a full day's journey, the scenery along the way was filled with vibrant green and thriving wheat fields. In the UK, a distance of hundreds of miles is connected simply by a ticket and an aspiration. Attending the physical festival brought me immense joy and left me thoroughly filled with the bliss of Dharma. I will certainly return for any future events our community hosts!" — Ru-Zhu

Dharma Dedication for Awakening to True Nature
"Throughout the puja, everyone accumulated virtuous karma together, contemplating the inconceivable merits of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind. May the blessings of the Buddha guide all sentient beings to awaken to their true nature early on, rediscover the inherently complete and unmovable perfect Buddha-nature, and ultimately attain the Peerless Ultimate Enlightenment!" — Jennifer

The Bodhisattva Silhouettes Moving Silently in Action
"Special thanks to Sister Kao and Sister Lai, who traveled all the way from Taiwan with heavy luggage filled with texts and festival supplies; their spirit of selfless dedication deeply moved me. I am also immensely grateful to June and her husband, who transformed their garage into a comfortable and elegant classroom, and silently worked in the background carrying large umbrellas to shield us from the sun. Jessica was also incredibly thoughtful, bringing beautiful and delicious longevity peach pastries that left a lasting impression. Furthermore, Yen-Chun, who quietly shouldered the photography and videography from start to finish to capture these precious memories for everyone, is truly wonderful. In these volunteers, I witnessed true love, selflessness, and the spirit of devotion." — Dharma Friend J

May the merits of organizing and rejoicing in this festival be dedicated to the long endurance of the Sublime Dharma, the health and well-being of our teachers, and may all sentient beings share in the Buddha’s grace, planting the ultimate seeds of enlightenment in this foreign land.

Weekly Lamrim Study Reflection | In the End, What Shapes Our Future Is the Mind

Saturday arrived again — the day we always look forward to for our Cambridge Lamrim class.

Every week, as we gather online to study the Lamrim teachings together, listening to the teacher’s explanations and everyone’s personal reflections, it truly feels like Buddhism is not something far away from daily life. Instead, it is a gradual process of learning to understand our own minds.

This week, we studied the section on the “weight of karma.”

In the past, we often thought:
a good deed is simply a good deed,
and a bad deed is simply a bad deed.

But this lesson helped us realize that even when two actions appear similar, their karmic weight can be completely different.

The difference is not only in the action itself,
but in the state of mind behind it.

The Lamrim teaches that among all forms of giving, offering the Dharma is the most supreme.
Among all offerings, practicing the teachings sincerely is the highest offering.

The scriptures even say:
if a bodhisattva never departs from the wish to benefit all beings, then even offering a single flower can create immeasurable merit.

Hearing this touched many of us deeply.

Because in daily life, we often focus on how much we have done,
but rarely stop to ask:
“With what kind of mind am I doing it?”

Sometimes we may appear to do many good things outwardly, yet inside we are filled with comparison, expectation, or resentment.
At other times, even a tiny act of kindness may come from a very sincere and pure heart.

And often, it is that single thought — that intention — which truly determines the strength of karma.

Another part that left a strong impression on us this week was the teaching on anger.

The Bodhisattva’s Way of Life says that virtues accumulated over a long time can be greatly damaged by a single intense moment of anger.

It sounds shocking, yet also very true.

Sometimes we do not intentionally hurt others.
We simply feel justified when emotions arise.
We complain, criticize, or hold onto resentment because we feel wronged.

But the Dharma slowly teaches us that the thing most needing protection is actually our own mind.

Because much of our suffering begins from a single unguarded thought.

Later in the lesson, we also studied the results of the ten non-virtuous actions.
Many of life’s experiences, habits, and relationships are not random at all.

Short lifespan, poverty, hearing unpleasant words, disharmony in relationships —
these can all be continuations of past karma and mental habits.

Learning about karma is not meant to make us fearful.
Rather, it encourages us to take responsibility for every thought and intention we create.

Perhaps practice is not about suddenly becoming extraordinary.
Perhaps it is simply learning, again and again:

to have more awareness when emotions arise,
more reflection before criticizing,
more rejoicing when others do good,
and more repentance when we make mistakes.

May we continue, through each Lamrim class,
to slowly soften our hearts,
and gradually turn wholesome thoughts into a natural way of life.

☕ Leave a little time for the heart to sit quietly with Lamrim, like sharing a warm cup of tea.

《廣論》提到,布施裡面,最殊勝的是法布施;

有時候表面做了很多,內心卻充滿比較、期待、委屈;

只是情緒上來時,覺得自己「有道理」;
只是忍不住想抱怨、想批評;

在情緒起來時,多一點覺察;
在想批評時,多一點觀照;
在看見別人行善時,多一點隨喜;

Like the earth and the other elements, may I always be the sustainer of all the boundless sentient beings in every way." ( from Bodhicharyavatara - A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life)

May we always aspire to, and actively practice, helping all sentient beings.

When we use eyes of gratitude
to gaze in all directions
we unearth:

trees offering their cool shade,
flowers offering their fresh fragrance,
parents offering their great love.

And I—
what can I offer in return?

—— What Can I Offer, Kindling Hope, Zhen Ru

🌼

This Week’s Lamrim Study Reflection|Even a Small Thought Is Not a Small Matter (Chinese version follows below/

It is Saturday again — a joyful time for the Cambridge Lamrim Class to study together.

This week, we studied a section of the Lamrim about the weight of karma. During the class, we also shared with one another how they connect the Dharma they have learned with their own life experiences. Listening to these reflections, we felt as if the wisdom for living was gradually being opened. It also made us feel that investing our weekend time in this kind of learning is truly worthwhile.

The Lamrim reminds us:

The same wholesome or unwholesome action may carry different strength depending on the object we are facing and the state of our own mind.

When the object is the Three Jewels, our teachers, our parents, or someone who genuinely aspires to benefit sentient beings, even a single thought of respect, one word of praise, or a little support may become a very powerful wholesome cause.

On the other hand, if we show contempt, criticism, or obstruction toward the good deeds of others, even if it is only one sentence or one thought, it may create very heavy karma.

This touched us deeply.

Sometimes, we think we are only saying something casually.
Sometimes, we think it is only a small matter.
Sometimes, when we do not understand another person’s motivation, we are quick to judge.

But the Lamrim gradually teaches us:

Within cause and effect, nothing is truly insignificant.

This week, we also learned that the foundation of one’s mind is very important.

Making mistakes is not the most frightening thing. What matters is whether we can see our mistakes, repent, and change.

True wisdom is not never having made a mistake. True wisdom is being willing, after making a mistake, to guard our mind and no longer follow our afflictions.

After studying Buddhism, we slowly come to understand:

Practice is not only in the shrine hall, nor only within the two hours of class.

Practice is found before a sentence leaves our mouth.
It is found when a thought arises.
It is found when we see others doing good and ask whether we can rejoice.
It is found when we make a mistake and ask whether we can repent.

May we, through each study session,

have a little less contempt and a little more respect;
a little less criticism and a little more rejoicing;
a little less carelessness and a little more caution.

Because even a little goodness can become the light of the future;
and even a little awareness can slowly guide our hearts toward greater clarity.

☕ Let us leave a little time for the heart to have a cup of tea with the Lamrim.
— The Cambridge Lamrim Class Practice Diary

有時候,我們以為只是隨口說一句話;
有時候,我們以為只是小小一件事;

在看見別人行善時,我們能不能隨喜;

少一點輕慢,多一點恭敬;
少一點批評,多一點隨喜;

因為一點點善,也能成為未來的光;
