Marleigh Primary Academy Marleigh Primary Academy, a member of Anglian Learning, opened as a new school on the Marleigh development on Newmarket Road, Cambridge in September 2022.

Marleigh Primary Academy is a member of Anglian Learning , a highly successful charitable Trust in East Anglia, formed by academies recognising the huge potential and benefits of coming together to form one large group. Anglian Learning's vision is for our learners to be dynamic and empowered, who thrive and lead in their communities: locally, nationally and globally. Our leaders share collective responsibility for achieving excellent outcomes for all learners of our Trust. It’s all about Community! Our key intent for Marleigh Primary Academy is to ensure that the children of families moving into housing within the Marleigh development can have a place at the school. We will provide educational provision from nursery age through to key stage 2. The combination of two classes per year group, with shared additional learning areas, will enable pairs of teachers and wider staff to work collaboratively using their expertise to best effect. Pupils will have access to the external learning area to facilitate outdoor learning focused on building pupils’ resilience, physical development, understanding of the natural world and their ability to work collaboratively. Marleigh Primary Academy will be at the core of the Marleigh community, and we hope that your family will be a part of it. At Marleigh Primary Academy, we are incredibly proud of our wonderfully diverse and international school community. Did you know that 28 different home language categories are represented by our children and families? 🗣️💜
From Arabic to Ukrainian, Mandarin to Malayalam, and many more, every language brings its own stories, traditions and culture, enriching our school community and creating opportunities for us all to learn from one another.
Today, we celebrate not only the languages we speak but also the connections we build through them. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and every child should feel proud of their language, heritage and identity.

September is always a special time in nursery as children take their first steps on the school journey. We have loved welcoming old and new children and watching their confidence grow as they navigate these first few weeks. The new term highlights include:
👀 Exploring our new calm area
👐 Getting hands-on with our sensory trays
🎨 Using our own ideas at the creative table
🏗️ Building, digging and role playing in our new outdoor construction area
🎭 Bringing stories and songs to life on our new stage
The fun doesn’t stop there! The children are already enjoying their enrichment experiences, including forest sessions, PE and visits to the library in our main school building.
It has been wonderful to see our youngest learners full of curiosity and excitement as they make new friends, learn new routines and discover all that Nursery has to offer. 🌟

Play is not a break from learning.

Through play, children practise regulating, building relationships, problem-solving and decision-making. They negotiate, communicate, take risks and work things out.
Sometimes, children use play to play out situations that their brains haven’t quite understood yet. It gives them a safe way to explore, process and begin to make sense of their experiences. 🧠
This is why play is so powerful.
When we tap into a child’s play, we tap into safety and connection. We enter their world. 💛
Sometimes, play is a child’s love language — their way of saying, “Come into my world. Be with me. Connect with me.”

📚 Cosy book corners provide quiet spaces to escape into a wonderful story.
🧘 Calm spaces give children somewhere to pause, regulate and recharge when they need it.
🌳 Outdoor areas offer opportunities to play, explore, investigate, create and learn beyond the classroom walls.
🧩 Working walls bring our learning journeys to life, celebrating the progress children are making and capturing the knowledge, skills and ideas they are developing along the way.

🌻✏️🔬 Celebrating our learning this week! 🔬✏️🌻
What a wonderful week of learning, creativity and discovery we have had!
✏️ We have been practising our pencil grips and developing our handwriting skills, taking care to form our letters correctly and becoming more confident with our writing.
🌱🔬 In Science, we became plant scientists! We set up some exciting experiments to investigate how plants react when they don’t have water, air or sunlight. We made predictions and are excited to observe what happens over the coming days.
🎨🌻 In Art, we were inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s famous Sunflowers. We created our own versions using oil pastels, experimenting with colour, texture and different techniques to bring our beautiful sunflowers to life.
We have been busy learning, experimenting, creating and growing all week! 🌟 What a fantastic week of learning! 💛

We’d love to welcome you to one of our Reception Open Day group tours at Marleigh Primary Academy. 💜

Choosing a school is an important decision, and our tours are a chance to see our school in action, explore our learning environments, meet members of our team and discover what makes each of our school communities special.

📅 We have a selection of morning, afternoon and after-school tours throughout October and November.

Computing is an important part of learning at our school, helping children become confident, creative and responsible users of technology.
Through our Kapow Computing curriculum, children develop skills in programming, digital creation and understanding how technology works. They learn to give instructions, create sequences, test their ideas and solve problems when things don’t quite work first time.
Technology also supports learning across the curriculum. Times Tables Rock Stars is a firm favourite, helping children build fluency and confidence with their multiplication facts.
Alongside developing their computing skills, children learn how to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully.
These skills are helping to prepare our children to learn, work and thrive in an increasingly digital world.
