🌟 Extraordinary Me! 🌟

At CSIA, we want every student to build their qualifications, skills and qualities — but also to have great experiences that help shape who they are, build confidence and make new friendships.

Our clubs and co-curricular activities are a big part of this! 🎨⚽🎭🎵

Students will sign up during tutor time next week. Please have a chat with your child this weekend about what they would like to try.

Let’s make it an extraordinary year! 💫

13 POINTS. ONE BIG LEAP. 📈

This year’s GCSE results have seen CSIA achieve an Attainment 8 score of 53.4 — the highest in Cornwall.

And one of the biggest stories behind those results is the progress at grade 5+ in English and Maths.

In 2025, 47% of our students achieved grade 5+ in English and Maths.

This year, that has risen to 60%.

That’s a 13 percentage-point increase in just one year.

And the progress continues at the highest grades, with grade 7+ rising from 16% to 26%.

From overall attainment to some of our biggest year-on-year improvements, there’s plenty to celebrate at CSIA. 💙

We are excited to launch a new lunchtime support service for all students - the SENshine HUB is opening its doors every lunch time in room 31.

We don’t only support students based on labels at CSIA, but instead support everyone and anyone who feels they need it as part of our inclusive school family. Need a chat? Want to ask about a learning need? Have a niggling worry? Need a quiet space to regulate? Visit our SENCos in room 31, and meet our newly appointed SEN Support Officers, too. We’re here for you, every single day, ready to support.

💙 What a brilliant start for our new Year 7 students!

It has been lovely seeing our new students settle into life at CSIA today, meeting new people, taking part in challenges and getting to know their new school.

📘 Welcome booklets
Students should have brought home their Welcome Booklet today, which includes important information and key dates to help them through the year.

💌 Postcards home
Students have also been writing postcards to someone special at home. Some of the messages have been particularly lovely, including one student who wrote:

“Thank you for cooking my tea even though you don’t have to because I am old enough to do it myself. When you do it, I really feel like you love me and it makes me feel warm.”

🔐 Year 7 challenges
Our new students have also taken part in an escape room and a range of team challenges, working together and making new friendships along the way.

It has been great to see so many students already showing kindness, helping each other out and making sure everyone feels welcome.

⭐ And across the day, hundreds of praise points have already been awarded to celebrate students making a great start.

A brilliant first day for Year 7. 💙

RESULTS ARE IN — AND CSIA IS THE TOP SCHOOL IN CORNWALL

CSIA has achieved an Attainment 8 score of 53.4 in this year’s GCSE results — the highest in Cornwall.

But what does Attainment 8 actually mean?

It’s a measure of students’ overall achievement across up to eight qualifications, including English, Maths, EBacc subjects and other GCSE or approved qualifications.

Our score of 53.4 is up from 49.6 last year — an increase of 3.8 points.

And there’s more to celebrate:

73% achieved grade 4+ in English and Maths
60% achieved grade 5+
26% achieved grade 7+

A fantastic set of results for our 274 Year 11 students.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS: WHAT’S CHANGING?

From the 2026/27 academic year, Cornwall Council is introducing a new Free School Meals Auto Award process.

The new system will use information already held by Cornwall Council to identify pupils who may be eligible for Free School Meals.

This includes pupils who:
• Are already claiming Free School Meals; or
• Live in a household receiving Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support from Cornwall Council.

If you are outside these groups, you will still need to apply for Free School Meals manually.

Parents and carers should check the eligibility criteria and find out more about the new process at http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/schoolmeals
