Students studying A Level Politics and the Cornwall School of Liberal Arts (CSLA) welcomed local MP Perran Moon for a lively Q&A exploring some of the major political issues facing Cornwall, the UK and the wider world.

Students put their questions directly to Mr Moon, discussing devolution for Cornwall, housing and the cost of living, immigration, climate change, electoral reform, national security, the environment and the future of local communities. They also heard first-hand about life as an MP and routes into a career in politics.

The session gave students the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom, question an elected representative directly and engage critically with contemporary political debate.

Events like this are an important part of A Level Politics and our CSLA programme at Camborne Sixth Form, giving academically ambitious students opportunities to explore subjects beyond the curriculum through discussion, debate, visiting speakers and enrichment.

A huge thank you to Perran Moon MP for giving his time, and to our students for asking such thoughtful and challenging questions.

🎓 A RECORD YEAR FOR CAMBORNE SIXTH FORM

This September, a record 168 students have joined Camborne Sixth Form — our biggest ever Year 12 cohort.

It has been brilliant to see so many familiar faces from CSIA make the move into Sixth Form, settling in, making friends, having fun and getting stuck into their courses.

They’re joining a Sixth Form coming off the back of an outstanding set of A-level results.

Camborne Sixth Form was the best state provider in Cornwall for A-level Average Point Score, and second best across the whole of the South West.

Average Point Score gives an overall measure of students’ achievement by looking at the points awarded for their A-level grades.

Last year, 41% of students achieved A*–A, while 68% achieved A–B grades.

But the results are only part of the story. We’re excited to see this next generation of students grow in confidence, discover new interests and make the most of Sixth Form.

Welcome to our biggest ever cohort! 💙

🎨 Big canvases. Bigger creativity.

Our Year 12 artists have been bringing some seriously impressive large-scale portraits to life this week.

From the first brushstrokes to the finished pieces, they’ve put their creativity and skills on full display.

Safe to say, they’ve smashed it. 👏

What a day.

Today has been one of those days that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

We have loved seeing our students walk through the doors, collect their results and finally see years of hard work, determination and perseverance come to fruition.

There have been celebrations, happy tears, huge smiles and plenty of proud moments – and we couldn't be happier for every single one of you.

This year's results are a fantastic reflection of the ambition and commitment of our students, with 68% achieving A–B grades and 41% achieving A–A*. Our CSMS students have achieved an incredible 74% A–A*, while our vocational students achieved an average grade of Distinction+, with 100% achieving a pass or higher.

But behind every result is a person, a journey and a huge amount of hard work.

To everyone collecting results today: we are so proud of you. Whether you're heading to university, an apprenticeship, employment or your next adventure, we can't wait to see where you go next.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey.

Congratulations, Camborne Sixth Form. What a brilliant cohort.

🌟 Year 12 Progression & Activities Week 🌟

Students from the Sixth Form and CSMS began their UCAS journey this week, with Monday and Tuesday dedicated to intensive personal statement support from tutors and the Sixth Form team, helping students reflect on their achievements and aspirations for the future.

The rest of the week was a chance to relax a little, with a range of activities including beach trips, woodland walks, a sports extravaganza, board game tournaments, TikTok holiday planning, Great British bake off and a polymer clay jewellery workshop.

Thank you, Year 12, for a brilliant week and brilliant year so far! We are incredibly proud of your hard work, enthusiasm and achievements, and look forward to supporting you through your final week before the summer break.

Enjoy your well-deserved holiday when it arrives! ☀️
