Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of a much-loved former
member of our school community, Liz Rule.
Liz was a valued and dedicated member of staff, remembered with great affection by colleagues, families, and many former pupils. Her kindness, warmth, and commitment to the school will not be forgotten, and she leaves behind a legacy that has touched many lives within our community. The children always loved a 'Mrs Rule
cuddle' - and didn't she give the best cuddles.
Our thoughts are especially with her family at this difficult time, particularly her daughter, Leanne Rule, who is a much-loved member of our current staff team. We know many of you will wish to join us in offering her your support, care, and understanding over the coming weeks.
In school, we have made the thoughtful decision not to share this news directly with the children in school. We feel that such difficult news is best received in the comfort of home, not in the classroom, where children can be supported far more closely by you, cuddled up on the sofa. All children will receive this news differently and we want them to be able to respond naturally with you. Therefore, we kindly ask that, if you feel it is appropriate, you speak to your child about Lizโs passing over the weekend in the way you know is the best way for your
child/ren.
The children knew Liz very well and they may have questions or feelings they wish to share. Please reassure them that we are here to support them, and we will respond sensitively to any children who approach us in school. We have also contacted Penhaligan's Friends for support, which you are also able to speak to or seek advice from.
We will let you know details of any funeral arrangements in due course as I am sure many of you will want to come.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we come together as a community during this sad time.
With kind regards,
Mrs Bailey
