Today, we were visited by the author S.E Durrant, who introduced her books- Into Thin air, Little Bits of Sky and Talking to the Moon. The children were excited to hear her ideas and what inspired her with the book. Thank you to Bookwagon Limited for helping to arrange this experience and to inspire our budding authors.

It has been truly fabulous seeing their eyes light up with the excitement of all the new Crawley Play items. The playground has been filled with colour and joy. Costumes can be seen everywhere, ribbons are being twirled to create dazzling displays and the enchanted garden has been a hub of activity this week. Guttering and slides were used for car aerial acrobatics and the mud kitchen has produced an adapted version of 'spaghetti carbonara.'

Crawley Play brings joy, imagination and fun to our school day. It encourages creativity to take the lead through play and is integral to our school day. Today, we've been enhancing, resetting and creating new areas. It may have been a tad wet, but we succeeded! Thank you to our PTA for our new drums and for the support behind the scenes in bringing new play items and resources for us to use or install.

The children asked for an off road car track and they can now make one in the construction zone. Our World Book Day pebbles have a new home too.

Welcome to the new school year. All around the school, children have been settling into their new classes and embracing new opportunities. This week, new school parliament representatives (Eco Council, Learning Council, Well-being Ambassadors, Digital Leaders and Crawley Play team candidates) have been presenting to their class and voting has been taking place. They are a vital part of our school community.

On Wednesday, it was time to elect our House Captains and we must commend the children who shared their presentations. They thought so carefully about how they would contribute to school life and proudly share our values to inspire those around them.

And just like that, another school year has come to an end. Every day counts, and today the children paused to reflect on their journey. There was so much to share, so much to celebrate, and so many moments to be proud of.

Year 6 were busy collecting messages and signing T‑shirts, and they marched out in style in true Crawley Ridge fashion.

We also said thank you to the staff who are leaving us today — each of whom has contributed so much to shaping our school and supporting every child. Mrs Culligan, Mrs Roberts and Miss Scrivener, you will always be part of CRJS.

Past staff joined us too, making the celebrations even more special.

Last week, Mrs Taylor welcomed back our regular volunteers to thank them for their time and dedication with our Well-being Ambassadors hosting a mini afternoon tea.

Finally, thank you to the whole school community for your support.
