So proud of Ethan from Portesbery School for telling Magic to ‘Walk on’ and ‘Stop’ around our Woodland Sensory Ride yesterday afternoon . Well done, great riding! We were so lucky as only a few moments before, the heavens had opened and we wondered if we would have to abandon riding 🌧💧🌧 luckily it stayed dry and everyone had a great time. 😊

Our recent Children in Need activities raised a very impressive £171.22 - so thank you to everyone for their donations!
We enjoyed taking part in lots of yellow and spotty themed events along with a school disco and cake sale.

Chestnut Class became 'The Chestnut Arms Fanzone' today and the England v Iran game was on the big screen for all to enjoy! Staff and students enjoyed a variety of soft drinks along with crisps, sausage rolls and Scampi Fries while cheering on the England team. The atmosphere was electric!

I've really impressed my teachers with my level of understanding of BSL signs, and am consistently using the signs myself to ask for things and inititiate conversation. I'm also getting very good at waiting patiently when I need to!

Last week we were visited by Millers Ark Farm as part of our Primary department's 'Animals and Habitats' topic. The pupils all engaged with the animals, and many of them really enjoyed stroking and grooming them.


Congratulations to Team Butterfly for completing their Functional Reflex therapy workshops
with Louise. They are now equipped to deliver high quality hand and foot massage using techniques from Reflexology.

I have made such super progress with my 'yes' and 'no' switches. I can now use them to tell my teachers what I can hear. Everyone is Maple thinks I'm a super star! 😃


I have been practising using a device to ask for snack items from our class cafe. Look how independent I'm becoming!


Just a quick reminder that we are hosting a Quiz Night here at the school on Thursday evening! Doors open at 7.00pm and quiz starts at 7.30pm.

Everyone is welcome, up to 8 players per team with an entry fee of just £2.50 per person. Bring your own nibbles and drinks (alcoholic beverages will also be available to purchase on the night!).

In this afternoon's lesson based around our 'America' topic we looked at totem poles. I chose to make a model of a wolf and matched relevant characterisitics and attributes including 'courage'.

Congratulations to those who attended Portesbery's first Functional Reflex Therapy Workshop for parents and carers!
Functional Reflex Therapy uses a combination of relaxation techniques drawn from reflexology and is designed for use in an SLD setting.


As the temperatures drop and energy bills rise, the cost of living crisis will be sharply in focus for many residents with low incomes and homes that are hard to keep warm.
It will be a desperately worrying time for many, but help is available in the form of a grant of up to £25k to help make homes more energy efficient.

Would you like to become part of our friendly admin staff team? We are looking for someone to take over the role of 'Annual Review Administrator' at Portesbery School.
Based in the main school office, you will be responsible for organising the Annual Review meetings for all of our 125 students. You will be part of the busy, happy and hard-working admin team, but also work alongside all school staff, parents and other professionals to ensure an effective process for all involved. General support to the school office is also a part of the role.
The role is full time (term-time only), with working hours from 8.50am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
