The Grove Primary Academy

Next week (9th - 13th October) is Feel Good Week. The theme this year is 'I can... We can...' so the focus is on working together to achieve.

We plan to have Lunchtime Activities for the children:

Monday - Mindfulness Colouring
Tuesday - Hoola Hooping and Skipping
Wednesday - Planting a Seed
Thursday - Giant Painting/Chalk
Friday - Music and Dancing!

Through the range of activities that focus on working with others, children will experience and
develop improved self-esteem, pride in shared activity, and effective team-building skills

FOG will be holding a secondhand uniform sale on Wednesday 4th October located on the top playground after school 3.10pm-4pm. Both cash and card payments will be accepted.

It has been wonderful having the children back to school to fill our premises with laughter and joy! And to welcome all our new starters 😊

Have A Lovely Summer Everyone!

All the lost property is on display under the covered walkway by the top playground.

Please make time to go through it, as we have accumulated a large number of items, including non-uniform clothing.

We must take this opportunity to stress the importance of naming your children's items, so that lost property can be duly returned.

We had the exciting pleasure last week of receiving the runner-up prize - a cheque from Michael Usher Mortgage Services for £200.

It was received by our Head Boy, Head Girl, Heads of the School Council, our School Council Staff Lead and a member of the FOG team.

A heartfelt 'Thank You' goes out to you and all the community that helped us achieve this runner-up prize - it's astonishing the amount of support we had!

We now hope to finish the fencing of our Friendship Garden and make a start on the allotment area.

A big congratulations also goes to Hawley Primary School for winning the first prize.

Our Reception Year are learning about Life Cycles. We are fortunate to have a 10 day experience of hatching chicks, thanks to FOG who have kindly funded this through Incredible Eggs.
We have 8 eggs of varying breeds, where 3 have already hatched. Next week the children will get a chance to hold them 🐣🐥

Monday 8th May Bank Holiday school is closed 👑, Reception Year Height & Weight with school Nursing Team , Higher & Aspire Year 5 Cricket Festival 🏏and Dragon Class Assembly.

The kitchen was in full swing on Thursday morning to provide the children with their picnic lunch. The kitchen staff did a great job - thank you! 👏
The rain held off and the children enjoyed their 'Coronation Picnic' on the field.
And a big thank you to FOG who have provided each child with a Coronation Badge - thank you! 😍

A reminder that the children will be having a picnic lunch tomorrow to celebrate the coronation.

Children are invited to come into school dressed in red, white and/or blue. They should also bring a picnic blanket, if they have one.

(Those that have NOT already made their choice on ScoPay for tomorrow's lunch, will need to provide their child with a packed lunch)

Reception year have be learning about skeletal bones and healthy food. They are making food (carrots) to feed the skeleton.
Please don't be surprised if they come home and ask to count your 'metatarsals' or 'phalanges' - apparently they love these long words 💀🦴

Please make your choice for the Coronation picnic lunch by 6pm tonight on Scopay, as orders will need to take place tomorrow.

Spring has sprung at The Grove! - our cherry blossoms are in full bloom to welcome the children back this week 🌸🌳
We hope you all had a good break and look forward our Spring activities.

WINNERS of the 'Egg Decorating Competition' and the 'Easter Funday Raffle' have been announced in todays assembly.

We would like to thank everyone that participated and a big thank you to FOG who organised the Easter Funday & Raffle & their little helpers 🤩

Prizes from the raffle will be coming home today and the winner of the top prize of £100 cash has already been notified.

We wish you all a good break and look forward to welcome you back on Monday 17th April.

The Grove Year 5 & 6 netball team arrived at Connaught Junior School for the annual netball championship on Wednesday. Confidence was high after last years victory! With 10 schools participating in total, it certainly wasn't going to be easy to hold on to our trophy from last year!

The team stormed to victory in all their group games! Excellent teamwork, passing and shooting was on display... high tempo play was a standout feature of this well gelled team.

After topping the group, the Grove was pitted against the other groups winners in a championship final… and a great final kept all spectators entertained! The Grove team ended the game victorious with a 6 - 1 scoreline!

To win back-to-back championships is no mean feat and is testament to the teams' hard work, skill, and determination! Well done to all involved and maybe next year we can make it 3 championships in a row!

We have had some Egg-cellent entries for our Egg Decorating Competition and as you can see it's going to be a very difficult job to pick winners. So much effort has gone into these amazing creations, so well done!
Winners will be announced in tomorrow's assembly ⭐️

We have so many joyfully dressed children in support of Comic Relief today, it's really brightened up our school 🤩

Year 4 have left Ufton Court and estimate their arrival at school to be around 3pm.

All children are invited to 'Dress up for Joy' by wearing bright colourful clothes for Red Nose Day Friday 17th March for Comic Relief. They can also wear a red nose, if they wish.

Ranging from the 'Magical Fishy Wands' served with 'Funnybones Fries' to 'Paddington's Pasta' served with 'Gruffalo Garlic Bread and Matilda's Mixed Salad'.
