Fynamore Primary School

Fynamore Primary School We are a primary school in Calne, Wiltshire. Through possibility, we reach for the best possible education and learning outcomes.

We transform the life chances of our pupils through support to understand the world they live in, their culture and others.

We're trialling School Streets at Aloeric Primary School, Melksham; Fynamore Primary School, Calne; Minster Primary School, Warminster; and Queen's Crescent Primary School, Chippenham from 4 September.

School Streets aim to create safer, healthier and less congested environments outside schools by temporarily restricting through traffic at the start and end of the school day during term time.

If you live or run a business within one of our new School Streets pilot areas, we'll be writing to you with information about exemption permits. If you think you may need a permit, we'd encourage you to check the eligibility criteria and apply as soon as possible so you're ready before the pilot starts.

There were some big hits, super-speedy sprinting and a lot of cheering as Sycamore took on Maple! 🏃‍♀️🏃

Year 4 enjoyed a brilliant visit from Wiltshire Museum 🤩

Activities ranged from handling artefacts and replicas of household items and weapons, daily life objects and items used in beauty regimes (such as an ear cleaning spoon) - and a very heavy helmet!

They even learned how to play two games: Spinning Tops and Knucklebones, which became very competitive and tactical. They also designed and created a mini mosaic of their own, which they will eventually take home ✨

After lunch, they experienced battle formations with their own shields under a tree, just like the battle against Boudicca at Watkins Street!

They also had the opportunity to taste-test Dates - a common Roman delicacy - well done to those who tried them 😋

Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for the children to immerse themselves in the living history of our topic - and a day they won't forget. Thanks to Friends of Fynamore School - FOFSA for the funding to enjoy such a great day 🙏

Year 5 had a fantastic taster day at Kingsbury Green Academy and thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a range of exciting lessons 🤩

In French, they impressed the teacher with their excellent knowledge of animals, numbers, colours and everyday phrases. They also had great fun learning and practising some tricky French tongue twisters! Next, the children took part in a computing lesson, where they explored coding by creating projects using Kodu. They then enjoyed a maths lesson, learning some clever mathematical tricks - hopefully they've been showing these off at home!

To finish the day, Year 5 became history detectives, examining clues from the past to investigate and uncover historical mysteries. It was a fun and memorable day, giving the children a real taste of life at KGA ✨

This week, our pupils have been taking part in vital First Aid Workshops delivered by the incredible team at Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity 🚁
First aid is a statutory part of the PSHE curriculum, and we were lucky enough to have their qualified teachers and first aid instructors deliver age-appropriate, fully inclusive sessions tailored to our children's needs ✨
Their mission is to give young people the knowledge and confidence to act in a medical emergency before an ambulance arrives. We are proud to be one of the many schools helping them achieve their ambition of teaching every child across the county these life-saving skills! ❤️🚑
