Callington Community College earn highest GCSE results in its history!

A massive well done to our most brilliant students who made history for the College today, with 53% earning two grade 5s and above in English and Maths and a whopping 70% earning grade 4 and above in both - not to mention, the highest number of grade 9s ever!

You have made us all so very proud: your humour, community commitment, resilience and perseverance and sheer determination are a genuine inspiration. You have left a lasting impact and legacy.

We are exceptionally proud of our Key Stage 5 results - particularly so, of our students who have worked so incredibly hard over the last two years. Their determination, passion for their studies and chosen fields has been truly inspiring.

They have achieved a fantastic set of results, all reaching their chosen next pathway with an incredible number going on to university.

79% of results were A*, A and B grades, an improvement of 24% on last year's results.

They have been a truly exceptional cohort and we want to thank them for their brilliant contributions - you leave a lasting legacy and big shoes to fill!

Since the start of the FIFA World Cup, students at CCC have been reading football themed books from our school library, and reviewing them, in order to gain an entry to win the official FIFA World Cup football.

Congratulations to Levi, who was drawn out of the hat. Levi was surprised and delighted to win, and a number of other students enjoyed playing with the ball at lunchtime.

Yesterday, Year 8 STEM students went on a trip to Hannafore. They were led through a day of rock pooling activities by Heather, a marine expert, who volunteers for Cornwall Wildlife Trust and other marine charities.

Animals discovered included starfish, hermit crabs, scorpion fish, a lobster and a giant spider crab!

The students had a great day out learning about ecosystems and preservation of marine life.

Last week we enjoyed our fantastic Summer Spectacular! show. Students from Year 7-11 celebrated their talent and creativity in a wonderful variety of performances in dance, music and theatre.

A brilliant evening was had by all!

🎭✨ What a show! Matilda the Musical at Callington Community College ✨🎭

This July, our students brought the magic of Matilda the Musical to the stage in our first full-scale school production in several years — and what an incredible experience it was!

Students from all year groups came together as performers, technical crew and front of house volunteers, with well over 50 students playing a part in making the production such a success. Every person involved contributed something special, both on stage and behind the scenes.

After months of rehearsals, commitment and creativity, audiences enjoyed three fantastic performances full of brilliant acting, energetic choreography, memorable music and amazing teamwork.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved, and a special thank you to Miss Turner and Mr Lane for leading the production and bringing this incredible opportunity to life, as well as to all the staff, families and community members who supported the show.

The production was also part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Change Our Story programme, delivered in partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth, giving our students the opportunity to work with industry professionals and develop their performance skills.

🎬 This is just the beginning! We have lots more exciting performance opportunities coming up next academic year, and we can’t wait to see even more students get involved — whether on stage, backstage or as part of the wider creative team.

Last week saw a number of Year 10 students successfully complete their DofE Silver Qualifying expedition, in what can only be described as challenging conditions.

Taking good care of themselves, and each other, they navigated for three days across Dartmoor, camping at Whiteworks, near Princetown.

They showed tremendous resilience and determination, finishing with an energy zapping 130m climb to the top of Peak Hill.

The staff could not be more proud, an outstanding effort by all involved!
