Are you familiar with the new rules for car driving test bookings? π€
π
Test changes are now limited to 2 per booking.
ποΈ Only learners can book, change or cancel their own test.
π Test moves are limited to one of the 3 nearest centres.
By introducing these new rules, weβre aiming to reduce the reselling of tests, create a level playing field for all learner drivers and give them more control over their learning to drive journey. πͺ

Changes to driving test booking happening today. β οΈ
From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.
This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:
π
31 March β test changes limited to 2 per booking
π 12 May β only learners can book, change or cancel their own test
π 9 June β test moves limited to 3 nearest centres
Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

β οΈThe weather can change in an instant β and your driving needs to change with it.
π¦οΈSudden rain? The Highway Code says you should double your stopping distance and slow down.
βοΈBright sun can be just as dangerous, creating reflections and glare on road surfaces β make sure your sunglasses and sun visor are within reach before you set off.
ππAnd if you're sitting in heavy traffic, keep a safe gap to the car in front. It's easy to creep forward without thinking, but that space could be what prevents a bump.
πA few small adjustments can make a big difference. Stay safe on the roads this summer!

π΄ Horse Safety on Our Roadsπ΄
Every Driver Can Help Keep Riders Safe
Whether you're travelling on a country lane, a village road, or a busy route, it's important to remember that horses are powerful animals but can be easily startled by traffic, sudden movements, and loud noises. A frightened horse can react unpredictably, putting riders, carriage drivers, passengers, motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians at risk.
π Regardless of the speed limit, when you see a horse and rider (or horse and carriage) using the road, please:
β
Slow down to 10mph and be prepared to stop if necessary.
β
Keep well back and in some instances, give the rider time to assess the situation and signal when it is safe to pass.
β
Never rev your engine, sound your horn, or accelerate suddenly. Unexpected noise can cause a horse to panic.
β
Pass slowly and leave at least a 2-meter gap, but only when it is safe and legal to do so.
β οΈ Horses can be unpredictable when frightened. Even the calmest horse may react to something that seems insignificant to us, such as a passing vehicle, a barking dog, or a sudden noise.
π‘ A few moments of patience can prevent a serious incident. By slowing down and showing consideration, you can help ensure everyone gets home safely.
Please share this message and help raise awareness of safe driving around horses on our roads.
