Qualified teacher with over 10 years experience My name is Melissa and I am a registered childminder.

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and have 10 years experience teaching in Early Years and Key Stage 1, in both Inner London schools and local schools. I am extremely passionate about how children learn and develop and can provide your child with an excellent environment to develop their skills and knowledge in all areas of learning. I have lots of experience in working with children who have additional needs and English as an additional language and am confident in tailoring the curriculum to support individuals. I live with my husband and two young daughters. We have a large home with a generous garden to offer children plenty of space to play and learn. At Daffodils, our children are encouraged to develop a love of learning, to be independent, creative and curious. We have a strong emphasis on communication and language. Story telling, reading, singing songs, repeating rhymes and lots of pretending, feature heavily in our day to day play. 🍎 Apple Week 🍎
We picked, washed, chopped and baked delicious apples. We learnt where and how apples grow, what we could do with the seeds we found inside, and lots of different ways we could eat them! 😋 We also got creative with the apples in the outdoor kitchen and with paint.

☀️ What a summer it’s been at Daffodil’s Childminding! 🌼

We’ve packed our summer holidays with adventures, fun and lots of learning along the way! 💛
🌊 Trips to the beach
🛝 Exploring new parks & soft play
🐠 Mini aquariums
🏰 Castles & local historical sites
🌳 Forest adventures
🌸 Garden centres

Back at home we’ve been building friendships, learning card games, creating outdoor kitchen concoctions, baking, role playing, enjoying tea parties and putting on our very own puppet shows! 🧁🃏👩‍🍳🎪
So many happy memories, lots of laughter and plenty of learning through play. ❤️
Now we’re ready for a new season of adventures! 🍂🌼

I'm very proud to share feedback from my first CIW inspection. There are four graded areas, and I'm thrilled to say that I have been awarded two areas as GOOD, and two areas EXCELLENT.

'Children are extremely well settled and thrive with the child minder.' - A real highlight of my report ❤️

My little kiddies absolutely shone, just like they do every single day. Their confidence, kindness, and curiosity were noticed and celebrated, and that means more to me than anything.
We celebrated today with soft play and a splash in the paddling pool with our best friends.
Feeling grateful, proud, and excited for what’s next.
Here’s to my amazing little crew and all the joy they bring. 💛🌈

Today our toddler group took over the local farm — and what a day it was.
We watched a milking demonstration, bounced around on the bumpiest tractor ride ever, and got up close with the softest, furriest little animals for stroking and feeding.There were noisy moo’s, cheeky baaa’s, tired feet… and the happiest faces all round.

🍦 Sprinkles Ice Cream Shop opens in the garden!

Our brand‑new Sprinkles ice‑cream shop opened its doors in the garden, and the children were very busy serving their first customers.

We made our own colourful ice‑cream balls, designed menus, and created bright shop signs.
There was lots of brilliant shop language, money skills, and order taking as the children called out flavours, counted coins, and served up the “best ice cream in Caerleon”.

We had an absolute blast with our friends Little Explorers Childminding, at Gŵyl Dewin a Doti today — the children were wiggling, jiggling, singing and moo‑ing their way through the whole show.

We brushed up on our Welsh farm words and sang Hwyl Fawr Ffrindiau like tiny experts.
And the grand finale?
A hi‑five from Dewin himself!

🧸✨ Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the Castle ✨🧸

An absolutely enchanting morning exploring our local castle with our favourite furry friends. The children arrived clutching their teddies, full of excitement — and the castle ruins were the perfect backdrop for a magical adventure.
We wandered through ancient archways, peeked into mossy hidey‑holes, and tiptoed around the beautiful grounds. The children spotted teddy bears parachuting from the top of the castle — brave little explorers floating down to join our picnic.
Together with our friends, we went on a bear hunt, searching behind crumbling walls, under ivy trails, and through sunlit courtyards. We finished our adventure with a special sticker each to celebrate the centenary of the first edition of Winnie‑the‑Pooh — a perfect way to mark a day full of imagination, friendship, and childhood magic.

Toys are toys, until we tell them they are for girls or boys.
Play like this isn’t “just play” — it’s kindness, empathy, and confidence in action. If this is the kind of care they’re practising now, imagine the amazing dads they’ll grow into one day.
