This is a difficult post for me to write.
For 15 years, The Matthew Hackney Foundation has worked to make sure children and young people can access mental health support when they need it.
Today, we work with 32 schools and settings across Surrey and support more than 100 children and young people every week.
But the reality is that funding isn't keeping pace with the need.
We have reserves, so we are not facing an immediate crisis. But those reserves aren't unlimited, and we cannot continue using them indefinitely to bridge the gap between the support children need and the funding available.
Despite many hours spent applying to charitable trusts and foundations, securing grant funding has become incredibly difficult.
The last thing we want to do is reduce counselling when we know how desperately it is needed.
We have seen children return to school after struggling with school avoidance. We've heard from families who tell us our early intervention work has literally changed their lives.
That's what we're trying to protect.
So today I'm asking our community for help.
