Year 9 had a fantastic visit to the Imperial War Museum in Manchester this week.

The trip provided a valuable opportunity for students to bring their History learning to life, deepening their understanding of the First World War, the Second World War and the Cold War through engaging exhibits and powerful artefacts.

What made the day even more special was the exemplary conduct of our students. We received lots of lovely positive comments from museum staff and members of the public, who praised their behaviour, manners and engagement throughout the visit. Yet again, our students made us incredibly proud to represent Buxton Community School.

🎉 Following the huge success of our Year 5 Disco, we're excited to be hosting a FREE Year 6 Neon Disco this Wednesday as part of our Year 6 Transition Week!

📅 Wednesday 8th July
⏰ 6:00pm–7:00pm
📍 Buxton Community School

All Year 6 pupils from our catchment schools are welcome to join us for an hour of music, games, sweets and hot dogs, as well as a chance to meet up with friends before September.

There will also be a chill-out area available for anyone who would prefer a quieter space.

🎓 Year 11 Prom 2026 🎓

A brilliant evening on Friday as our Year 11 students came together to celebrate the end of their time at Buxton Community School.
The prom was a fantastic opportunity for students to mark the occasion with friends and staff before moving on to the next stage of their journey.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, and well done to Year 11 for making it such an enjoyable evening.

We wish them every success for the future and look forward to celebrating their results with them in August.

Work experience is coming back at Buxton Community School

Buxton Community School is exploring the reintroduction of work experience for our students and we're looking for local businesses and organisations who may be able to offer a placement in Summer 2027.

A fantastic day out for Year 10 Geographers in the Goyt Valley. Students undertook a variety of fieldwork methods to test how river processes change as you move downstream. Well done everyone 👏

A brilliant afternoon out on two wheels! 🚴‍♂️

Our group spent time building confidence and sharpening their cycling skills on the pump track before heading out onto the Monsal Trail to put them into practice. It was great to see everyone challenging themselves and supporting each other along the way.

The day was perfectly rounded off with a well-earned ice cream – the best way to finish! 🍦
Well done to everyone involved for a fantastic afternoon of activity, resilience and enjoyment in the sunshine. 🌿☀️
