I have been away in London distracting myself from trying to move to Devon, having sold our house and closed my studio and moved into a tiny flat without a studio and nowhere to paint.
So yesterday we visited Serpentine South Gallery to see the inspirational Cecily Brown exhibition that has just started. Stunning. Go if you can.

Thank you to anyone that has stumbled on this page and liked it recently. I haven't been posting my art because I have been having a break from it.

I shut down my studio in Vernon Mill last November. This took a great deal of time and energy and it was sad to say goodbye to my students. At that time we were in the early stages of selling our house and buying a new one - with an outbuilding that was to be my studio. The purchase didn't happen as unfortunately the house needed far more work than we thought. But we pressed on with selling our house, and sorted out 25 years of stuff and moved to a small flat.

So I and my husband are presently living in temporary accommodation with my art and materials in storage with the rest of our furniture. I am enjoying the views from our windows as we look out onto the River Sett that flows under our converted mill building, and at the trees.

There will be a new chapter of art soon. The weather is improving so I can get out to sketch. There may also be a move to a new house coming, with a new studio as well...but I don't want to jinx it, so I'm not saying anymore just yet!

It's always lovely to see shots of my work hanging in my client's homes. Here is one of my landscapes from four years ago 'Towards Manchester' a view towards Manchester from near my house. It went to it's new home on Friday. Second shot is of it in situ.

As said recently, 'Its good to look back at our earlier work'.

I am moving studios soon, downsizing a little. This weekend and throughout November I am selling much of my earlier work at a huge discount. Here is my studio today. The abstracts towards the end are more recent.

Open Studios is on at Vernon Mill again today. It is also my big sale before I move studios. There are many reductions on my Manchester and Peak District work and four of these have gone off to new homes this weekend as a result. This is one of them. Farewell 'Towards Manchester'.

It's my Closing Down sale as part of Vernon Mill Open Studios this weekend. We kick off tonight with our usual preview night. 6 to 9pm with live music, drinks and nibbles. Then on tomorrow and Sunday 10 -4pm.
