We would like to say a big thank you to all those that bought in cakes and donated to our Macmillan coffee afternoon. Everyone who attended had a lovely afternoon with lots of cake to choose from and enjoy. We raised £130 thank you again for your support. 😊

Everyone here at FEJS enjoyed our Roald Dahl book day. We loved seeing the children (and teachers) dressing up as their favourite characters and engaging in various activities throughout the day.

Over the last two weeks the children here at FEJS have settled into school routine really well and everyone is looking forward to an exciting academic year.

We hope you have had a lovely summer break and look forward to welcoming all our children back on Tuesday 5th September at 8.55am (Monday 4th September is an inset day so closed to all students.) This week we also said a bittersweet goodbye as Mrs Johnson left us after 34 years teaching here at FEJS to enjoy her much deserved retirement. The children and staff were joined by Mrs Johnson’s close family and friends to bid her a bon voyage. We took her on FEJS version of her upcoming cruise, (who knew Maltesers are the famous dish of Malta 😂). We took a tear jerking trip down memory lane looking at pictures from over the years she has been with us. Mrs Johnson has been a part of many children’s lives over the years and is going to leave a lasting memory here at FEJS, we wish her the happiest of retirements FEJS won’t be the same without you.

A sad week here at FEJS not only have we said goodbye to our year 6 children we have also had to say goodbye to Miss Elliott one of our year 3 teachers. She is off to sunnier climes all the way in Dubai, where she will continue her teaching career. We sent her off in true FEJS style with the children singing, gifts and a fun aeroplane quiz (Miss Elliott let slip her love for planes). All we can say is Miss Elliott you need to use your long flight journey to brush up on your plane knowledge 😂. We wish Miss Elliott the best of luck in Dubai, we will miss you greatly.

🎈 Class of 23 Prom 🎈
Our year 6 students didn’t let the Buxton weather dampen their evening. They arrived in style and all looked absolutely stunning. They walked the red carpet like celebrities and enjoyed an evening of laughter, dancing, photos, pizza and mocktails. It was a truly memorable night for all. The staff here at FEJS wish them the best of luck and success in their secondary schools in September.

Wow what a better way to start the week than celebrating the success of our children at FEJS. They have worked extremely hard this year and got to share their achievements with friends and family at their award events. At our evening celebration event we were joined by Josie Shereston, Tarmacs environmental coordinator, she got the evening started by cutting the ribbon with our new prefects to formally open our brand new canopy, before coming inside to watch the awards being given out. A massive thank you to everyone who came and shared the celebrations.

Mini Police Graduation 2023
Well done to all our Year 5 Mini Police, you have worked really hard learning about policing and what can be involved in their daily duties. You have taken part in real life scenarios and gained invaluable knowledge for your future. Our Mini Police were true ambassadors of FEJS in all activities, they went out into the community and helped speed check local car drivers, got to meet the police dogs and handlers, learning about the work of the police drones, how they are not only used to catch criminals but also help find missing people, understanding knife crime, an insight to the forensics team and the work of the RNLI. A massive thank you to PCSO Karen Green and PCSO Will Brockett, The Crime Commissioner, The High Sheriff, CSI Team, Armed Response Team, Traffic Team, Derbyshire police, RNLI and Bobby the Dog for providing our children this wonderful learning experience. 🚔

The children here at FEJS were really excited to take part in Buxton Wild Week. As well as going to visit Cunningdale and Grinlow woods, they planted flowers at the front of school, got up close with insects and wildlife, enjoyed an interactive nature table of feathers, bones and other natural artifacts, they also got a visit from Creeping Toads. A big thank you to Francais and Lindsey from Serpentine Community Garden and all the volunteers who came and made this possible for the children.

Tuesday 18th April we are holding a Mental Health and Wellbeing Event after school from 3.30pm - 4.30pm. We have lots of different community organisations, activities and demonstrations for you and free refreshments. It is open to all children, parents and carers. We look forward to seeing you all there.

💛Today was a very sad day at FEJS... We had to say goodbye to Mr Neequaye who has been with the school for nearly 15 years! Obviously, we ensured that Mr Neequaye had the best last day possible. We had our first ever 'FEJS Bushtucker Trials', Mr Neequaye had to complete his tasks to gain his gold stars and gifts! He managed to complete the Bushtucker trials with the support from all of the children who cheered him on! We would just like to say another massive thank you and all the best for the future! Mr Neequaye we will miss you! 💙

We would just like to say a massive thank you to the Buxton Mountain Rescue team who attended the FEJS Light Switch on! It was a great opportunity for children and parents to ask questions and find out a little bit more about what the team do for our community. With all the support and kind donations from our school community, we managed to raise £211.04 for the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team!

This week has been full of Christmassy activities and celebrations! We had the Year 3 children enjoy their afternoon of making their Christingles and then we had the FEJS Christmas Light Switch on which was a brilliant turn out! We thank everyone for their donations and support. We also would like to say congrats to 3E for achieving best class attendance and to everyone who received a head teachers award! We hope everyone has a great weekend!

We were extremely proud of the children who observed a full 2 minutes silence today. We all reflected and showed respect and gratitude to the armed forces past and present who have lost their lives fighting for their country.

The School Council have had a wonderful day at the Octagon in the Pavilion Gardens as they attended the 'Buxton Students Together For Our Planet Conference'. This was a great experience for the children to discuss and debate the climate change and environment. FEJS and the School Council would like to say a massive 'thank you' for allowing our school to be part of such an exciting opportunity!

At FEJS, all the children work exceptionally hard to achieve their very best; this never goes unnoticed as many of you received a 'Headteacher Award' in this mornings assembly. It is important to always try your very best in everything you do and follow our school motto of 'Happy. Proud. Successful' !

It is also very important to achieve great attendance; the average attendance figure should always aim to be 96% or higher. We would like to congratulate our weekly attendance winners who managed to achieve an amazing 99% this week, 5P! Well done.

This term, the Year 4 topic is 'What's so good about Buxton?'. This afternoon, they had a special visit from Lady Bridgwater who spoke about all the interesting facts and history of Buxton! 😄

👮‍♀️ Derbyshire Constabulary - Mini Police at FEJS! 👮

The Year 5s had an exciting afternoon as they took part in one of their first mini policing activities of walking around the Fairfield Community and setting a great example for FEJS. The Mini Police Programme is an exciting and interactive opportunity for all children to have a positive experience of policing and to get them involved in the local community. They will learn about the police, online safety, fire safety, water safety and undertake activities will will fit within the schools PSHE curriculum.

There will be plenty more exciting policing activities over the academic year! 😄 🚓

This morning we started our Year 3 Family Fun Mornings; it was a brilliant morning and everybody had lots of fun! It was great to see so many parents attend the morning with their children. Many parents said that they really enjoyed the session and that it was great to take part in sport activities with their child/children!

Congratulations to all the children who received a Head Teachers Award this morning; you should all be very proud of yourselves! Keep up the excellent work. Some of the children received Head Teachers Awards for their amazing manners. It is important that we use our manners to appreciate and respect each other.

The Year 3s had their Singing Concert which took place on Wednesday; the Year 3s all sang with confidence and it was great to see so many parents enjoy the performance!

A big well done to our Weekly Attendance Winners... 4W! 98% ! We hope you enjoyed all your treats!
Please make sure that your child arrives on time to help improve their class attendance, let's aim for 96% or higher!

The children have been busy planting lots of flowers and looking after the school grounds. In celebration of the Queen's Jubilee, the children planted a tree for each year group to commemorate the special occasion. The pictures of the flowers have been taken by FEJS' very own Media Club. The children have learnt how to use a camera and all the camera properties to create their perfect pictures. Media Club runs every Thursday lunchtime and it is a great way to learn different skills, maybe discover a new hobby and connect with other children in the school!
