🎭✨ Shakespeare Comes Alive in KS3 English! ✨🎭

This half term, our KS3 students have immersed themselves in the world of Shakespeare, demonstrating incredible creativity, confidence and insight.

📖 Year 7 explored character creation through the themes of good and evil, analysing how writers craft memorable characters.

👑 Year 8 tackled Macbeth, investigating ambition, power and consequence while bringing the play to life through discussion and performance.

⚔️ Year 9 delved into Hamlet, exploring its complex characters, themes and enduring relevance.
To make Shakespeare more accessible to a modern audience, students have been drawing links between the plays and contemporary music, showing how Shakespeare’s themes continue to resonate today. Using the four strands of oracy, they have confidently presented ideas, engaged in thoughtful discussions and inspired their classmates with their interpretations.
We in the English department have been truly blown away by their knowledge of the plays, their enthusiasm and their creativity. Their ability to connect Shakespeare to the world around them has been nothing short of fantastic.

This morning, our Year 7 and Year 8 students came together to celebrate all they have achieved over the final term. 🌟

The celebration wasn’t just about academic success or awards, it was about recognising the incredible growth each student has shown as a person. From building confidence and resilience to embracing new challenges and supporting one another, every student has something to be proud of.

It was wonderful to celebrate so many of these achievements with awards and to recognise the hard work, determination and positive attitudes that have made this term such a success.

A huge thank you to the parents and carers who joined us to celebrate these special moments with their children. Your support makes such a difference.

Thank you also to our dedicated staff who have helped mould and shape these fantastic young people throughout the year. A special thank you goes to our form tutors and pastoral managers for their unwavering care and guidance, and to Mrs Taylor, their Head of Learning, whose encouragement and commitment have helped every student to thrive.

Well done, Year 7 and Year 8, we are so proud of everything you have achieved and, even more importantly, of the young people you are becoming. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next! 🎉

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗧𝗠

What a fantastic way to round off another incredibly busy week!

From the excitement of Sports Day, to our students embarking on their pilgrimage to Lourdes and our musicians continuing their unforgettable Italy tour, it’s been a week full of opportunity, achievement and memories.

We then finished the week in style with our annual Summer Fair! A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported our PTA, donated prizes, volunteered their time or simply joined in the fun. Seeing our school community come together is always something special.

And, of course, in between all of that, there has been plenty of fantastic learning taking place in classrooms across the school, with our students continuing to work hard right up until the end of term.

Thank you to our wonderful students, staff, families and the Friends of STM for making this such a memorable week.

🇮🇹 Italy Trip Update! 🎢☀️

Today has been another fantastic day for our students!

After enjoying a brilliant performance last night, everyone was ready for another fun-filled day. (Performance videos will be uploaded in the next few days)

This morning and into the early afternoon, we visited Gardaland, one of Italy’s most popular theme parks. Often compared to Alton Towers, Gardaland didn’t disappoint, and with queue times of only around 15 minutes, everyone had the chance to experience all the big rides! 🎢

After an action-packed morning, the group enjoyed a relaxing afternoon back at the hotel, making the most of some free time in the pool. 🏊‍♀️☀️

This evening, we’re looking forward to rounding off another brilliant day with a show at 9:00pm. 🎵

Lots of smiles, laughter and unforgettable memories are being made, and we can’t wait to share more updates from our Italian adventure! 🇮🇹💙
