7 miles.
Today I had my longest run since the Challenger South… 3 months ago! 😳
Only 7 miles, but back on the trails, back in the hills — and my goodness, it was tough! 😂
As I mentioned in my previous post, I haven’t really been running much over the summer. I prioritised other things in a bit of a rebellion against structured training! 🤣
But if I’m honest, the motivation wasn’t really there either.
I kept running to a minimum and focused more on hiking, spending time with family and enjoying the summer. And actually, I don’t regret that at all.
But I definitely feel like I’m paying for it now! 😂
With winter approaching, the weather changing and the evenings getting darker, I decided it was time to get some structure back.
So I’ve signed up for group coaching with the lovely Jenny Bushell Adventures ❤️
And honestly, I’m really looking forward to it.
As a coach myself, I could write my own training plan… but after spending my days planning training for everyone else, writing one for myself is pretty much the last thing I want to do!
I also think there’s something really valuable about putting yourself in the hands of another coach — having someone else look objectively at your training, keep you accountable and tell you when to push… and when not to!
Right now, I feel like I’m almost starting from scratch. 😬
But I’m going to respect the process, enjoy the journey and focus on building my fitness back up gradually.
I’ve also really enjoyed getting back into the gym and feeling myself getting stronger again. 💪
So this is the start of my journey back to the Challenger North.
I’m going to share the good runs, the rubbish runs, the training, the hills, the strength work, the inevitable wobbles and everything in between.
Because I don’t have endless time to train, and I don’t have a perfect athlete lifestyle.
I’m a mum, I work, I run a coaching business… and I’m trying to fit training around all of that.
So let’s see what I can build between now and the challenger North. 🏔️
If you’re training for your own big goal, maybe you’ll come along for the journey too. ❤️
