April has been all about poetry at ALC ✍️✨

From exploring different types of poems to researching inspiring poets, our learners have been discovering how powerful words can be. We haven’t just been reading poetry… we’ve been creating it.

Here’s a brilliant example — a creative blend of an acrostic poem and a riddle 🧠📜
Thinking deeply, playing with language, and expressing ideas in unique ways — exactly what we love to see.

At ALC, we don’t just teach writing… we help children think like writers.

Building strong foundations, one step at a time ✨

Here, our Reception children (ages 4–5) are exploring 8 + 4 using Montessori addition strips — a powerful visual that helps them see how numbers move and grow.

At ALC, we love varied repetition. It’s not about doing the same thing over and over, but experiencing the same concept in different ways to build true understanding.

These Montessori addition strips are just one of the ways we support children who are beginning their journey with addition up to 20, helping them clearly connect addition to movement along the number line and understand progression, not just memorise answers.

It’s also a task that encourages independent learning, allowing children to explore, test ideas, and build confidence — all with gentle guidance from us.
