This week our topic has been minibeasts. The children were all very excited to come in on Monday to see that our five caterpillars had emerged as butterflies. We spent a few days watching them before releasing them and waving goodbye🐛🦋

🐜🕷🪳The children have also searched for bugs in the tray, made their own butterflies, counted insects and sorted them into categories. Yesterday we had a lovely trip to Whipsnade where we found lots of bugs and butterflies (and an adorable baby elephant 🥰🐘).

In celebration of World Book Day, we have been reading a different story each day.

🐸Oi Frog - we were thinking about rhyming words and the children were matching the animals up with the objects that they would be allowed to sit on if they were in the book

🐯The Tiger Who Came To Tea - we created a tea for the tiger and had a go at making our own sandwiches for a picnic lunch.

🐘Dear Zoo - we went to Whipsnade and managed to find all the animals from the story. We also got messy with a zoo themed sensory set up.

🐭The Gruffalo - one of our absolute favourites! We went on a hunt in the woods to find the Gruffalo and his friends.

This week has been all about Winter 🥶 We have:
🧥Spotted the signs of Winter around us
⛄️Made melting snowman biscuits
🐻‍❄Visited Tring Natural History Museum to spot animals that might live in colder climates
🐧Visited London Zoo to see the penguins and made penguin pictures
☃️Used snowman buttons to practise subitising
🌨Played with pretend snow and some ice skaters
❄️Watched the Winter themed shows at Willows
