Mr Hunt from the Front I am a teacher, author and educational consultant providing CPD and staff training. I love creative and innovative ways of teaching to engage children.

I am primary school teacher who has taught reception, year 6 for six years and now a mixed year 3/4 class. I want to share my ideas through my page and connect with teachers in the UK and around the world. Please feel free to like, share or follow my page

FREE Author Visits for 2026 to 2027! Last remaining dates!

Over the past few years, I have had the pleasure of visiting hundreds of schools and working with children who are excited by stories, books and writing.

During my visits, pupils learn how a book is created, ask brilliant questions, and feel inspired to have a go at writing their own stories. I always share a simple message with them: with the right mindset, anyone can be an author.

Due to the number of requests I have received for visits, I have now added dates for the rest of the academic year. These sessions are fun, interactive and centred around my books, including Billy the Bottom Burping Pirate, and are designed to spark a genuine love of reading, writing and storytelling.

I will reply to messages on a first come, first served basis, and dates will go as schools get back to me and confirm bookings.

Last available dates:
December: 16th
January: 6th
April: 28th
May: 5th, 12th and 26th
June: 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th
July: 7th, 14th and 21st

• Preferred date or dates

FREE author visits are dependent on distance, as I am based near Manchester, and require a minimum of 30 book sales via pre-orders and after-school book sales. Promotion through Twitter, Facebook or a letter home is also required.

If you would like to include a staff CPD session during my visit, this is available at a reduced rate.

I used this little YouTube clip after lunch today to help the children feel calm, focused and ready to learn. A lovely calming brain break for ages 3–11!

A place for everything, and little hands helping themselves!

It’s helped me organise our classroom and made it much easier for the children to find, use and put away resources independently. We’re starting The Iron Man in Year 3/4 over the next couple of weeks and it’s one of those books I absolutely love teaching! I particularly love the Chris Mould version. The illustrations are just brilliant. We’ve done a little bit of immersion already, so the children are really intrigued about who, or what, the Iron Man might be.

So, after they’d gone home today, I got the pens out and had a go at drawing my own Iron Man in the style of Chris Mould, ready to put on the classroom door for them tomorrow! I actually find doing things like this at the end of the school day really therapeutic. A bit of drawing, a bit of quiet, and hopefully something that gets the children even more excited when they walk in tomorrow!

I particularly love the Chris Mould version. The illustrations are just brilliant. First day with my new class today and I think they’re absolutely brilliant! It was great to meet them all and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead. Of course, I’ll miss my lot from last year, I always do, but I can’t wait for all the fun times ahead with this new minions ! 😊

🥔 Positive Potato is back… and the family has grown! 🥔

Last year, my Positive Potato went down so well with the class. The children absolutely loved seeing who would get it at the end of the day, so this year I’ve decided to expand the Positive Family! We now have a new Positive Potato, positive Crab and a Positive Egg!

At the end of each day, I’ll choose children who have done something kind, positive, helpful or simply made a really good choice that day. They then get to have their little Positive character sitting proudly on their desk for the whole of the next day.

It’s such a simple little idea, but it worked brilliantly last year and the children really bought into it. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference in the classroom.
