FREE Author Visits for 2026 to 2027! Last remaining dates!

Over the past few years, I have had the pleasure of visiting hundreds of schools and working with children who are excited by stories, books and writing.

During my visits, pupils learn how a book is created, ask brilliant questions, and feel inspired to have a go at writing their own stories. I always share a simple message with them: with the right mindset, anyone can be an author.

Due to the number of requests I have received for visits, I have now added dates for the rest of the academic year. These sessions are fun, interactive and centred around my books, including Billy the Bottom Burping Pirate, and are designed to spark a genuine love of reading, writing and storytelling.

I will reply to messages on a first come, first served basis, and dates will go as schools get back to me and confirm bookings.

Last available dates:
December: 16th
January: 6th
March: 24th and 31st
April: 28th
May: 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th
June: 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th
July: 7th, 14th and 21st

For more details, please message me with:
• School location
• School size, for example 1 form or 2 form entry
• Preferred date or dates

FREE author visits are dependent on distance, as I am based near Manchester, and require a minimum of 30 book sales via pre-orders and after-school book sales. Promotion through Twitter, Facebook or a letter home is also required.

If you would like to include a staff CPD session during my visit, this is available at a reduced rate.

🥔 Stay Positive! 🥔

My class absolutely love receiving the Positive Potato at the end of the day. It goes to someone who has stood out through kindness, hard work, resilience, or simply being spotted doing something fantastic.

As a little end of year gift, I decided that every child deserved their very own Positive Potato! I bought a huge bag of potatoes, drew a different face on every single one, and handed them out on the last day.

The smiles on their faces were priceless. Who would have thought that something as simple as a potato could bring so much joy? It was such a lovely reminder that the smallest gestures are often the ones children remember the most.

Stay positive... you never know who might need a smile today! 🥔😊

🌊⚔️ Cross the Sea of Doom! ⚔️🌊

Looking for a fun and engaging PE warm-up? Try Cross the Sea of Doom!

Working in pairs, children must cross a marked area using only two hoops and a stick. We like to use a hockey stick!

The rules are simple but surprisingly tricky. Players can only step inside the hoops while using the stick to move the second hoop forward. The aim is to keep progressing across the “sea” without touching the ground outside the hoops.

This activity gets children moving while developing:

Teamwork
Problem-solving
🎯Coordination
💬Communication

You can make it competitive by timing each team, creating races or adding obstacles along the way.

A brilliant way to develop key PE skills while having loads of fun!

🏆 Flip Cup Conquest!

Looking for a fun transition day activity? Flip Cup Noughts & Crosses is a brilliant way to help children relax, work together and get to know their new classmates.

Teams take turns trying to flip a cup. When a player successfully lands it, they place their cup on the board. One team plays as noughts by placing their cups the right way up, while the other team plays as crosses by placing them upside down. The first team to get three in a row wins!

It is simple to set up, great fun and helps develop:

Strategic thinking
Fine motor skills
Teamwork and communication
Confidence with new classmates

A fantastic icebreaker for transition days or a fun team-building activity at any point in the school year!

Outline on the Wall!

All you need is a wall, a water blaster and some willing kids!

Get the children to strike a funny pose against the wall, then spray around them using a wide spray or mist. When they move away, you’ll be left with a brilliant outline of their pose!

Such a simple, fun activity to enjoy while we’ve got a bit of warm weather. Perfect for lots of laughs, creativity and cooling down at the same time!

Get ready for some serious giggles and team-building fun with "Head, Shoulders, Knees, Colour!" 🎉 This game is perfect for transition days or just building a brilliant relationship with your class! In the video, you'll see me shout "Head, shoulders, knees..." and then a colour – yellow, green, or blue – that's on the table. The first one in each pair to grab it wins a point! 🌈 We used three colours, but you can totally adapt it for your classroom. It's packed with laughter and the kids absolutely loved it – check out the video for proof! 😉
I actually saw this fantastic idea from Mr Alsheimer on TikTok/insta – he's got loads of amazing ideas for team building and brain breaks! Give it a go, your class will love it, I promise! ❤️
