I'm doing my first workshop for deaf children this Sat at Bury Deaf Society. I'm really excited about this project. Then I'm doing one for 'Ear for Kids' at Bolton, and a special Jubilee session in Manchester for Deafblind UK who have put out a regional press release!

After a really busy series of gigs with The Goodfellas since Jan we've got a bit of an enforced break after having 4 gigs cancelled by venues having problems affording to have bands any more!! But the good news is I'll be blowing the dust of the congas for a Funky Stuff gig in Huddersfield on 25th May.

I've started 4 new pupils this month and I'm starting a 5th next Monday. A guy who's wife has bought him a £99 Gift Voucher for my beginner's course as a birthday present.

I've just ordered some specialist monitoring equipment from a British firm called Porter and Davies. This gear will allow me to 'silently' monitor my kick drum when playing live. When I plug it into my Roland TD20KX kit it will convert the full frequency range of the kit into pressure waves which are felt, as though being heard, in the inner ear. This means I will be able to teach drum kit playing to profoundly deaf children and adults. Exciting stuff!! I'm hoping to do some demo workshops during National Deafness Awareness Week in May.

Bang the drum!!! Tell every one you know that they can come for a free half hour drum lesson and then book a further 10 half hour lessons (with a copy of Drumsense Vol 1 thrown in) for a mere £99. I'm hoping to get a video diary going soon on my website www.burydrumtutor.co.uk which will show the world how much fun drumming can be and the wide range of skills you can actually develop on my 10 week course.

My enhanced CRB came through this week. The Crown in Chorley have just booked us for two more gigs in April and May. A really good venue to come and see Goodfellas. Though be warned, the pedestrianised streets may confuse your sat nav!

Exciting news - my first advert has just gone into Rhythm Magazine!

Workshop season approaches. Youth offenders in April. A special Royal Jubilee event at Moorside Library on 3rd June. 6 summer workshops at Moorside, Brandlesholme and Ramsbottom libraries and another two and a half days of solid worshopping and jamming at the brilliant Ramsbottom Festival in September.

Another good gig at Great Harwood. Thanks to all at the Duke of Wellington. I need to give praise to my old pall Phil Ross for setting up a new facebook group called Bury Musicians Collective. Good one Phil :-) especially for letting drummers and peole who tap, thump or prod things join!!!!

After a number of annoying delays my local council has now submitted my enhanced CRB check. This means I'll be doing more of my popular youth workshops in the Community Libraries this summer. There's also talk of doing a special workshop over the Jubilee weekend at Moorside Library.

Another couple of Goodfellas' gigs coming up. This Friday we're at the Duke of Wellington in Great Harwood. Next Friday, 2nd March we're at The Grey Mare in Ramsbottom!!

Thanks to everyone at The Crown Chorley town centre, for making us so welcome. A great venue c/w in house lighting rig! We had a really good time, even though Gaz blew up his amp in the sound check.
