Special Times. To mark the end of EYFS milestone for our Reception children, we hosted a very special family Teddy Bear's Picnic for children, their families and staff. Thank you to all who came along and made it so special.

As part of their 'Sustainability' unit in Geography, our Year 6 children have been interviewing children and staff about how sustainable we are as a school and to gather ideas about other steps we could take to improve our carbon footprint. In addition, the children conducted a local litter pick to improve our surroundings and emphasise the importance of everyone 'doing their bit' to look after our environment.

Special thanks to our friends at Holcombe Brook Tennis Club who provided free tennis lessons to our Y3 and Y5 children and hosted a tennis competition for a selection of our budding tennis stars. Our children loved the sessions, thank you coach Tom.

Our Year 6 children thoroughly enjoyed their Bikeability Week, learning vital skills in order to be safe when riding their bikes. Well done Year 6 and thank you Bikeability Team.

Thank you to all our wonderful staff, not just today on 'Thank A Teacher Day' but every day. Our appreciation extends to every single staff ember that makes our school a special place to work and most importantly, a special place for children - thank you all.

We also took the opportunity this morning here at Old Hall to make a very special presentation to our very own Mrs Robinson. Mrs Robinson was nominated for a National Pearson Teaching award in the category of 'Unsung Hero' unbeknown to her. Today we were delighted to present her with her bronze certificate, a lovely bouquet of flowers and a special letter from the President of the Pearson National Teaching Awards, Michael Murpurgo - thank you Mrs Robinson. Yesterday, our upper KS2 football team took part in the first Keep Learning Trust tournament at Gigg Lane in Bury. The tournament was organised into a group stage, followed by semi-finals and a final. Our team comprising of Anton, Harrison, Ted, Jayden, Lyla, Eve, George, Max, Oliver and Evan were outstanding, with 4 wins out of 4 matches in the group stage and a very close semi-final, where Old Hall beat Radcliffe 1:0 to take us to the final. Sadly, the Keep Cup went home with Greenmount, as we lost 0:1 in the final, but our children showed excellent sportsmanship and we were very proud of each and every one of them. Special thanks to the parents and carers who came along in support.
