Hi
I'm a professional guitar and bass guitar teacher of the highest professional standard. I teach beginners to advanced to play their chosen type of music: pop rock blues jazz funk country RnB etc on electric and acoustic guitar and bass guitar. I also teach sight reading, and for the more serious, music theory to a very advanced level. Lessons are on a one to one basis and are held in my recording studio at my home in Carpenders Park, Watford. As a pro session musician I have worked extensively for the BBC, ITV, THAMES TV, GRANADA TV and ABC TV. as well as independent studios. I've worked with many of the biggest names in the music business including Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, Shirley Bassey, Ray Charles, Ringo Starr, Rick Wakeman, Everly Brothers etc and jazz icons Stan Getz, Dave Brubeck, Art Farmer, Barney Kessel, Jean Luc Ponty, Jiggs Wigham, Shake Kean etc. I have also played in the orchestras for most of the well known musicals including all of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals and countless others by different composers. So whether you want to be a pro musician of the highest standard or just want to strum your favourite tunes, I can give you all the guidance you need. If you require further info or would like to book a lesson you can contact me by phone or email with the above contact information.

Hi all,

If your aim is simply to strum a few favourite songs, I can certainly help you do that.

But if you become curious about what lies underneath the music - why chords work together, how to improvise, how to read music properly or how professional musicians approach an arrangement - I can take you there too.

I’ve spent a lifetime working professionally as a guitarist and have taught alongside that for many years.

My pupils range from complete beginners to accomplished musicians, and the lesson always starts with what that particular person wants to achieve.

Guitar and bass lessons are available from my home studio in Bury or online.

If you’re going to learn the guitar, get the foundations right

Hi everyone,

A lot of guitarists come to me after teaching themselves for a while and eventually finding that they’ve hit a wall.

There’s nothing wrong with learning songs from videos, but good technique and a proper understanding of the instrument make an enormous difference as you progress.

I’ve been a professional guitarist since I was 18 and have spent many years both playing professionally and teaching.

My own career has taken me through session work, television studios, theatre orchestras, jazz ensembles and work with some extraordinary musicians.

I’m based in Bury and offer one-to-one guitar and bass lessons for beginners through to very advanced players.

If you want to build your playing on good foundations from the beginning, feel free to contact me.

Hi all,

I’m Joe Willis, a professional guitarist and long-standing guitar teacher based in Bury.

I’ve spent most of my working life as a session musician, playing for television, radio, theatre and recording sessions and working with artists including Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Ringo Starr and many others.

Alongside that, I’ve taught guitar and bass guitar for many years.

I teach beginners through to advanced players, so lessons can be as straightforward as learning to play your favourite songs, or go much further into technique, improvisation, sight reading, harmony and advanced music theory.

The important thing to me is that a pupil learns properly and understands what they’re doing, rather than simply being shown a few shapes to copy.

Lessons are one-to-one from my studio in Bury, or online.

If that sounds like the sort of tuition you’re looking for, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
