This week we have had a super busy week in our EYFS unit.
Reception have been looking closely at size, biggest and smallest, biggest to smallest and learning all about repeating patterns. They have also been learning about maps and different countries, they have even drawn their own maps of their classroom!
Nursery have loved learning lots of new number rhymes (especially acting out 5 little monkeys) and have been fascinated with shape puzzles.
We have all enjoyed making the most of the rain, particularly jumping in muddy puddles and of course, our grandparents stay and play was absolutely brilliant. It was very wholesome to see all the children playing with their loved ones - lots of fun was had by all!

We also have two new additions to our Peel Brow family, they are cheeky little piggies who love munching on broccoli and cucumber, also on Mrs Dodd's cardigan sleeve (cheeky!). Meet Oreo and Biscuit, named by our EYFS children ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hi everyone,
Sorry we have been a bit quiet on social media! As you can imagine, its been a hectic few weeks back at Peel Brow and we have been enjoying settling our children back into school life and getting to know our new little ones. Here are some of the things we have been up to over the past few weeks; from pizza making, to autumn welly walks, we have been busy bee's!...

If your child is a football fan and likely to be staying up after 11pm on Sunday to watch the Final, then let them stay in bed a bit longer and get to school by 10am on Monday. We would rather have children rested and in school ready to learn rather than grumpy! School will start, as usual, at 8.40am but children arriving up to 10am will not be marked as late.

It is 55 years since England reached a major football final so let them watch and talk about it- focussing on pride, resilience and (hopefully not) disappointment!

Please spread the word, as some of our families may not be aware!

Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜Š

Another week gone in the blink of an eye! we have loved having our new starters in for their final stay and play, where they could explore their new environment and find their feet with the areas. We have been litter picking in our outdoor area and we are nearing the end of digging our bedding boxes up, we have almost finished them! We had fantastic day on Thursday, making England flags, singing "three lions" and "sweet Caroline" on loop, then we had a brilliant visit from a dance company who taught the children about the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and they loved learning dance routines and learning about the different events within the Olympics. Today we had a pyjama day as the children filled the achievement jar to the top, we enjoyed hot chocolate and had ice lollies in the sun!

The past two weeks have been so busy, that we've not had 5 minutes to give updates on here! From having a visit from PC Dave with his super duper police car to the local bin man coming in his amazing bin lorry and having our first couple of transition mornings for our nursery and reception children, making our own smoothies by peddling the bike, learning how to be eco warriors and not forgetting our fantastic sports day!... we have had an action packed couple of weeks, to say the least!๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŒ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ˜ƒ

What a fantastic week we have had in EYFS this week! We have been looking at our new big question "How can we save the world?" because of this, the children have been rescuing bees with sugar water and they have been discussing the impact the rubbish we throw away, has on the environment. The children were particularly concerned about the impact our rubbish has on animals and sea life. We have been getting ready, and very giddy, for welcoming our special person into the unit for our first stay and play session since lockdown, the children have been creating cards for their super hero's, for Fathers Day. During our stay and play session today, the children had a brilliant time den building, playing football, making all sorts of recipes in the mud kitchen and so much more! It was wonderful to welcome back our families and see them all having such an amazing time with their children. We want to wish you all a fantastic, relaxing day on Sunday. Thank you for your continued support.

We've had another fun filled week in reception. The egg has started to hatch and we can now see an eye and a tail! The children have been predicting whether they think it is a boy or a girl, they have also been thinking of names for the mysterious creature. They've been watching its every move and some have even said they can hear him/her making noises! In maths we have been learning about repeating patterns and creating some patterns, using natural materials outdoors as well as in the classroom, we made sure we made the most of the lovely weather this week! We finished today off with a couple of our children reading stories to their friends, and they were absolutely fantastic!

We have had a mysterious visitor in Reception this week... a giant egg!
The children have been making predictions as to what they think is inside the egg, some of them think its a dinosaur, some think it is a bird, some a dragon - all will be revealed when the egg begins to crack! The suspense is too much for some of the children and they're so eggsited! They have been writing letters to the egg, asking what creature he/she is, some have drawn and labelled pictures, some have spent a huge amount of time examining the egg with a magnified glass to see if they can spot any clues. what do you think it might be?!

EYFS have had another busy week! Reception had a special visit from a very cute, wrinkly and cheeky little friend, called "Chunk" who took a particular liking to one of our rolls of sellotape! They have also been bringing in their projects, where they had to create their own garden and we were blown away with how absolutely fantastic they all were! We had a little garden party to finish off our half term and were joined by some special guests, who were invited to join reception for hot chocolate and to judge the 2 winners of the project competition. The children delivered their invitations, written by two of our independent writers! Nursery finished off their half term with a special teddy bears picnic ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We have had a very busy week this week in EYFS. We have been enjoying the sun (while it lasted!), digging up the flower beds again with our parent helper, we celebrated national numeracy day on Wednesday with a fun filled day of all things maths and we have been learning all about the fantastic artist that is Giuseppe Archimboldo, who created the most interesting art with fruit and vegetables ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒฆ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ˜Š

We had a very green fingered afternoon yesterday. One of our brilliant parent helpers came in to help Reception de-weed the sensory planters and give them some desperately needed TLC! The children worked in teams to dig up the beds and pull out the weeds, rescuing lots of interesting mini beasts as well as finding many different plant roots, in an array of colours. Lots of fun was had by all! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ•ท๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ˜€
