I'm local to Bury and went to Tottington High School, Holy Cross College, and then Oxford University. I have just graduated from the University of Oxford with an MMath Mathematics and Statistics (2:1), a four year course including a masters year at the end. I have experience tutoring students of a range of abilities from GCSE to A Level, and use an engaging approach that uses on-the-fly questions
to identify and address any mathematical difficulties. In the same way, I set homework questions tailored to the student to reinforce the content of a session, rather than just asking for a list of generic problems to be completed. If you are preparing for a university entrance exam (MAT or STEP) I have experience of sitting these myself and in preparation for them (I was a tutor for the Problem Solving Matters Scheme https://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/node/29802 and have done sessions at Holy Cross College). Throughout my time at university I engaged with many open day and outreach events, encouraging students to think about studying maths at a higher level and applying to university (particularly Oxford) irrespective of their background. For this reason, I am offering mini sessions (approx. 20 minutes) where you Pay-What-You-Can, with no minimum, so that nobody is unable to get extra support while life and school is as disrupted as it is at the moment. I am sure that we can work something out, if you need some extra maths tuition.
