Run Club Success: Steve, Adam & BT 🏃🏼
From the SVP50 to the SVP100…
The final Run Club Success to come from the SVP100, and this one features three members of the run club team.
What started as unfinished business last year, with Steve and BT missing out on finishing the SVP50 in 2024 and wanting to redeem themselves, finished with the three of us completing 102.5km in 2026.
Last year, after Adam had just finished his first half marathon, BT and Steve called upon him to join them on their second attempt at the SVP50. As you’ll probably all know by now, it was those early morning Sunday trail runs between the three of them that kickstarted the idea of Fortify Run Club. We completed the 50km in 8 hours and decided that apparently wasn’t quite enough, so entered for the SVP100.
A year and plenty of ‘time on feet’ later, the boys completed the SVP100, but it certainly wasn’t straightforward.
BT went into the race having not trained properly for 7 weeks due to achilles issues. On the day, it was his other hamstring that plagued him, likely trying to compensate, but he still managed to get it done.
For Adam, a knee injury that started playing up just 10 days before race day caused nothing but issues, leaving him unable to fully extend his leg and relying on painkillers to get through.
Steve had moments where he didn’t think he had it in him to finish, but after 15 hours, the boys crossed the line together.
The team couldn’t be more appreciative of the support on the day, from the teams at the aid stations genuinely getting us through the race to the emotional scenes at the Mill Hotel.
It truly felt full circle to be supported by the community on the trail that the whole idea came from.
A huge thank you to you all. We couldn’t have done it without you 🖤
