Did you know that the UPDC LRC now has all the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize longlist and shortlist titles available for you to borrow?

Some of our very own LRC Colleagues were part of the panel that helped decide the longlist!!

Pop down to the hangar to peruse the books and see if any might catch your eye. There are some incredible titles in there (I myself am currently reading The Tarot Reader of Versailles) so make sure to pay a visit when you can :)

On 11th June, the 2026 winner of the prestigious Women's Prize for Fiction was announced.

To celebrate, the LRC quiz for June is about female authors whose works have received prestigious awards. Test your knowledge of the cream of literature and you could win some fantastic prizes of your own!

We're celebrating Pride Month by highlighting some of our collection of LGBTQ+ fiction and non-fiction — from powerful memoirs, and thought provoking studies to joyful love stories and groundbreaking histories. 🏳️🌈📚

These books are on display throughout June in the UPDC Library , but they’re available to borrow all year long.

May is LOCAL HISTORY MONTH!

It is an ideal time to explore our display of local history books, available to both students and staff in the UPDC LRC.

Our collection spans from Norfolk and Fenland to the Suffolk and the Essex coast. It includes titles covering the Anglo-Saxon, Medieval, Tudor, and Victorian periods, along with extensive works on 20th-century history.

Additional books are held in our reserve collection in storage and can be requested.

Whether you’re studying local history as part of your course or simply have a personal interest, come and browse the display shelves or search the library catalogue.
