It was a joy and an honour to welcome Maiya Quansah-Breed to CAST Studio on Monday, where she led our Legends & Icons Masterclass inspired by Six, The Musical.

We’re delighted to be welcoming Jordan Luke Gage to CAST Studio.

Jordan is one of the most exciting and versatile performers working in the industry right now. With leading roles across the West End, including standout performances in & Juliet and Bonnie & Clyde, he brings a level of craft, discipline and consistency that sets a real benchmark for what it means to work professionally at the highest level. Alongside his performing career, he has expanded into writing and composition with his new musical Redcliffe, opening this month at Southwark Playhouse.

That shift from performer to creator of produced work is a powerful example for our students. It reinforces the idea that a sustainable career in this industry isn’t one-dimensional. It’s about taking ownership, generating your own opportunities, and understanding the wider creative landscape you’re part of.

What makes Jordan particularly valuable for our students is not just what he’s achieved, but how he works. He understands the demands of the industry today — the need for adaptability, resilience, and a strong sense of self within a collaborative environment. He’s a performer who has built his career through commitment to the process, not just the outcome.

For our students, this is an opportunity to gain direct insight into the realities of the profession. How to sustain performance standards over long runs, how to approach material with clarity and intention and how to navigate the transition from training into the industry with confidence.

This is exactly what CAST Studio is built on. who are doing the job now. Sessions like this aren’t an add-on - they are central to how we train.

After three remarkable years as RHCAST, we’re excited to share the next step in our journey.

RHCAST is evolving into CAST Studio - a collaborative training conservatoire designed to expand opportunities, partnerships and professional pathways for emerging performers.

From the very beginning, this venture was built on a shared belief: that training should sit in meaningful dialogue with the professional industry. That belief shaped RHCAST, and it continues to sit at the heart of everything CAST Studio represents.

Ruthie Henshall’s energy, belief, and advocacy have been instrumental in driving the organisation from its inception, and she will continue to play a vital role in the life of CAST Studio as a founder and leading ambassador - as well as a guiding voice, mentor and a driving force behind the next generation of performers.

We continue to be inspired by the level of talent emerging across the UK. The creativity, individuality and commitment we see from young performers is exceptional. Our training is built to nurture those voices and help artists develop varied and sustainable careers.

Over the coming months, we look forward to sharing what’s next - new partnerships, new opportunities and continued growth. Each step is designed to place students at the centre of their own journey and open up even greater opportunities for them.

As we look ahead to welcoming our next intake this September, the school enters its strongest chapter yet.

Training should reflect how the industry works. Performers don’t learn purely by sitting in a classroom - they learn by doing. That means practical training, understanding style across musical theatre, working with industry professionals and performing regularly in front of an audience. That’s where confidence, discipline and creative communication are forged.

The individual matters. Small cohorts mean every student is seen. This isn’t about fitting people into a mould - it’s about nurturing what’s already there, building confidence and unlocking real potential. Alongside technique, students develop a clear belief in who they are.

The goal is simple: to nurture performers who are ready. Not just trained, but experienced, self-aware and able to step into the industry and hold their own - trained by those who do it and ready to navigate the reality of their freelance career.

Our final 2026 Graduate introduction is – Abi Thiel ✨🌏

Originally from Brisbane, Australia, RHCAST graduate Abi draws inspiration from the incredible Sutton Foster, whose versatility and energy in musical theatre she greatly admires. 🎭

During her time at RHCAST, one of Abi’s favourite roles has been Lizzie in Lizzie, a performance that allowed her to explore bold storytelling and powerful stage presence. 🔥

Alongside her training, Abi’s side hustle is teaching dance and choreography. Passing on her love of movement to the next generation is incredibly important to her. Dance gave Abi confidence and a creative outlet growing up, and she now enjoys creating that same supportive space for young performers. As a storyteller at heart, choreography gives her another way to bring narratives and emotions to life through movement. 💃

Reflecting on her time at RHCAST, Abi says one of the things she values most about the training is how personal the experience feels. With smaller cohorts at CAST, tutors take the time to truly get to know each student, offering guidance tailored to their strengths and areas for growth. The result is a supportive environment where students feel recognised not just as performers, but as individuals. 💛

For anyone thinking about auditioning for RHCAST, Abi’s advice is simple: be prepared, be yourself, and have fun.
