Our Forager Marc took a group of members from our Foragers Year community for a Valentine’s Day Walk and found some very special and apt red fungi. How many species of fungi/plants can you spot/name? Feel free to drop guesses in the comments.

🌲🍄 Exploring the enchanting woods around Forage Kitchen today was a fungi-filled adventure! 🍂🍁. With a couple of rare (but not edible) finds!

🍄 We stumbled upon the elusive "Magpie inkcap" (Coprinopsis picacea) – an infrequent species in the U.K., typically found in alkaline soils.

🍑 But the real treasure was the rare "Wrinkled Peach" (Rhodotus palmatus). It's become even scarcer in the U.K. since the Dutch elm disease outbreak in the late '60s, which devastated its host tree. 🌳

🚫🍽️ Note: These fungi aren't for eating and were not picked (apart from one being possibly toxic and the other too bitter to be palatable, they were left in place due to their scarcity) but they sure do make for breathtaking photos! 📸🍁

We are always amazed by the variety we encounter, particularly at this time of year, but now it's time to put your mushroom knowledge to the test. Can you guess the names of these fungi? Check out the photos below and leave your guesses in the comments! 🤔

We will be uploading lots of content to this public page - as well as more contact to our group page for our members who have had one of our starter kits, attended one of our courses or have membership to our website (www.forayersyear.co.uk).
