This week, at Bright Beginnings Day Nursery Ltd, we became the Easter bunny for birds! First, we mixed bird seed and lard together and shaped the mixture into eggs. Then we looked for trees with many branches to hide our bird seed eggs in. We hope the birds enjoyed their little Easter treat.

🌿🔬 British Science Week at Bright Beginnings Forest School! 🔬🌿

This week at nursery our children have been really enjoying our British Science week. In Forest School, we’ve extended our learning and been celebrating British Science Week too. The children have been busy exploring the theme of change, noticing how the world around us is constantly shifting and evolving.

As part of our learning, we ventured through the blossom tunnel, observing how the delicate flowers are beginning to bloom - a beautiful sign that spring is on its way. This sparked wonderful conversations about seasonal changes and how plants grow, linking to the Understanding the World area of the EYFS. 🌸🌿

The children also had a fantastic time discovering and making footprints, comparing sizes and shapes while talking about different animals and how they leave tracks. This supported their Mathematical Development, encouraging them to look at patterns, measurements, and similarities. 👣

A real highlight of the week was watching a boat go through the lock! 🚢 The children were fascinated as they observed how the water levels changed to help the boat move, sparking discussions about floating and sinking, forces and engineering—a fantastic real-world link to STEM learning.

And, as if that wasn’t exciting enough, we were also lucky to see a huge tractor rumbling past! 🚜 This led to discussions about farming, transport and why tractors are designed the way they are—encouraging curiosity about the world around them. For any families in our area this week, we’re not too keen on the smell, it sure did start a discussion about our senses of smell.

Through all these experiences, the children have been observing, predicting and questioning—developing their critical thinking skills, communication and understanding of cause and effect. A fantastic week of hands-on science, outdoor exploration, and curiosity-driven learning! 🌱✨ Our families this week will hopefully enjoy conversations with our home learning links sent this week.

Thank you to Robyn and Emily our wonderful Forest School leaders !

A Magical Canal Walk with Our Little Stars ✨

This morning, our Little Stars set off on a delightful walk along the canal, soaking up the warm sunshine and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. As we strolled, we spotted beautiful snowdrops, buzzing bumblebees and even heard the gentle babble of the brook….such a peaceful and sensory-rich experience for our little ones!

One of the highlights was discovering a tiny money spider, which of course called for a singalong of Incy Wincy Spider! 🕷️ We also had a lovely encounter with Margaret, the wonderful lady who creates the stunning seasonal displays along the canal. She stopped to say hello and even fed the birds, much to the children’s delight.

This walk tied in perfectly with our Woodland Animals and British Wildlife theme this week. Back at nursery, we’ve been busy growing cress seeds, and the babies have loved watching them sprout—another wonderful way to explore nature!

Here are some adorable photos.

🚓 This week’s Special Visitors: PC Barrett and PC Siwek! 🚨

This was an action-packed day at nursery! We were thrilled to have a visit from two of our local heroes—PC Barrett and PC Siwek—who arrived in style with their police car! 🚔

The children had the most amazing time exploring the police car and learning all about the important role our police officers play in keeping everyone safe. The officers showed us some of their incredible equipment, and the children couldn’t believe how much gear they carry with them! We even got to try some on! Wow!!

Of course, the best part? We got to listen to the sirens and horn in action—how loud and exciting! 🎶 We even got a close-up look at all the amazing buttons and gadgets inside the police car, and the officers explained what each one does. 🚨🔔 The children were wide-eyed with wonder as the blue lights flashed and the car’s communication systems beeped and buzzed!

But it wasn’t all noise and lights. The children learned so much today:

👮‍♂️ They discovered what police officers do to keep our community safe.

🚦 We talked about the importance of road safety and how to stay safe near busy roads.

📞 And they even got a lesson on when and how to call 999 in an emergency!

The excitement didn’t stop there—we all had a go at asking the officers some brilliant questions. Our little ones were so curious about how fast the police car can go, what it’s like to solve crimes, and even if they’ve ever caught a “baddie”! 🦸‍♀️💥

It was a fun-filled, educational day that will leave a lasting impression. A HUGE thank you to PC Barrett and PC Siwek for spending time with us and giving the children such a special experience! 💙

What a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and understand more about the wonderful people who work hard to protect us. The children left feeling inspired—who knows, we may even have some future police officers in the making! 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

🌲 This week at Forest School, we’ve been getting creative and thinking all about homes! 🏡✨

We started by building mini houses for our tiny people to explore and found some fascinating creepy crawlies who call the forest floor home 🐜🐛. Then, it was our turn! Working as a team, we built an amazing den—big enough to stand in, complete with its very own doorway! 🏕️

During our nature walk, we had fun spotting spider homes 🕸️ and learning why it’s so important to care for their delicate webs. And of course, we couldn’t finish without singing a lively rendition of “Incy Wincy Spider” 🎶🕷️!

It’s been a fantastic week so far, full of teamwork, creativity, and exploring the beauty of nature 🌿.

Today at nursery, our amazing team came together for a vital Paediatric First Aid course.

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our little ones is our top priority, and it’s so important that we keep our skills sharp and up to date.

It was wonderful to spend the day learning together, supporting each other, and strengthening our ability to respond confidently in any situation.

Feeling proud of our team and grateful for the chance to keep growing together!

🌿 This Week at Forest School with Robyn and Emily🌿

This week, we’ve been thinking about our bodies and what makes them healthy! The children had so much fun using sticks to outline each other’s bodies, taking turns to be the template and working together to create the shapes. As they practiced their physical skills, they also learned the importance of teamwork and taking turns.

We talked about what helps keep our bodies healthy and set off on a fruit-finding adventure! 🍏 The children were excited to discover apples and a variety of berries, learning about the different fruits that help keep us strong and healthy, all while exploring the natural environment.

It’s been a fantastic week full of fun, learning, and discovery! 🌲🍂🍁
