On Thursday 8 October, the National Literacy Trust and the British Council are aiming to set a new Guinness World Records™ title for the most people reading online in 12 hours.
The record attempt is part of the Take 10 to Read campaign during the National Year of Reading 2026, with a simple message:
✨ Whatever you're into, take 10 to read into it. ✨

BHM 2026
Val Wright is the chairperson of the Burton Caribbean Association (BCA) on Uxbridge Street. The BCA was originally founded by members of the Windrush generation
who settled in Burton, and under Val’s leadership, it remains a vital pillar of the town. Not only does she help organise Burton& #39;s annual Black History Month
events—including docu-series screenings, educational talks, and cultural celebrations—but the charity also provides a hot meals programme to support the homeless.
