Delivered in a classroom setting, this course offers a practical, hands-on approach that delivers the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real-life situation.

For added reassurance, each first aider is assessed throughout the course using a range of practical demonstrations, question and answer sessions, quizzes and engaging activities designed to coach and support them.

Suitable for people aged 16+ who might need to provide first aid by responding to a wide range of accidents, injuries and illnesses that they could encounter in their workplace.

It is ideal for organisations whose needs assessment has identified a requirement for additional first aid training, such as having employees with a disability or a medical condition.

In addition to the topics covered on an emergency first aid at work course, this course covers treatment for a variety of injuries and medical conditions.

Mental health first aid training in the workplace, organisations should consider:

- Ensuring that their health and safety risk assessments consider not just physical health and risks, but also mental health and risks
- Managing and mitigating the risks of harm in the workplace and having ways to support people with mental health issues
- Treating mental health in a similar way to physical health. For example, by having as many first aiders for mental health as for physical health.
