Let’s get to know each other 🤗👋

Children have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even as a teenager, I was always surrounded by children, looking after the little ones in my family. That’s where my love for childcare really began.

Later on, I chose to study Midwifery. Although working in a hospital gave me valuable experience, I realised I was missing everyday, close contact with children. I wanted to be involved in their daily development, not only at the very beginning of life. That’s when I decided to work in a nursery.

One moment in particular stayed with me. During a meeting with new families, a mother approached me and told me she clearly remembered me being present at her delivery while I was still a student. Now, years later, her daughter was about to join my group. It felt like a meaningful full-circle moment and confirmed that I was on the right path.

I worked in the nursery for two years while completing my Master’s degree in Care and Educational Pedagogy. Before leaving Poland, I felt a strong need for change. I wanted to create something of my own, but at that time I didn’t have the financial means to do so. Moving to England was a conscious decision that allowed me to build a stable foundation and prepare myself for the next step.

My first job in the UK was in a warehouse, which helped me gain confidence with the English language. Later, I worked in administration. When I became pregnant, everything naturally came together. It felt like the right moment to return to working with children in a way that also allowed me to stay close to my own family.

After completing all the required courses, I opened Kangaroo Kids Childcare. The Ofsted inspection was one of the most challenging stages of this journey and required thorough preparation, both in theory and in practice. After nearly four hours of inspection, receiving a positive outcome was a very satisfying moment.

At the same time, I was building my portfolio on Facebook and received a great deal of interest from families. Kangaroo Kids Childcare has now been operating for nearly four years. Today, I am the only Polish childminder in the local area, offering a warm, safe and caring environment where children can feel secure, supported and at home.

Last year I achieved Level 3 in Special Educational Needs, and it’s already helping me improve my work with children.

At the moment, we are in the process of extending our setting by adding an additional playroom. I am also looking for new team members, so if you are reading this and feel that you could be the right person for this role, please feel free to get in touch with me.

That’s a short summary about me — although it may still feel like quite a lot to read! I hope that by now you know me a little better and feel confident and comfortable arranging a meeting with me to talk about childcare for your child.

Warm regards to everyone reading this,
and I look forward to meeting you soon. ☺️

Just a quick update 😊

Since the beginning of January, I have been contacted by a large number of people asking about available places from September.

I kindly ask parents who enquired before the end of last year to please get in touch with me again. I would like to update the waiting list by the end of February and then confirm places with families who will be able to use the funded hours from September.

Thank you 😊

Nursery Safari
Parents in Their Natural Habitat part 1

🚁”Helicopter Parent"
Is he definitely breathing? Did you check his temperature? Was the sandwich gluten-free, sugar-free, and stress-free?

🥷”Ninja Parent"
Slides in. Slides out. Gone. Legends say he had a name... but no one remembers it.

👩‍⚖️”Children’s Rights Advocate"
Why did my child get an apple today and not a pear? This is clear fruit discrimination!

📋”Checklist Parent"
Here are the instructions: how many times to change the diaper, how to sing the lullaby, and the exact order to serve the snacks. Under penalty of curse!

🤔”Philosopher Parent"
Do you think today's separation will permanently change our relationship?

😎”Whatever-Will-Be-Will-Be Parent"
Oh well, oh well! If they cry, they’ll stop eventually. They’ll get used to life anyway.

So tell me,which one are you ? 😅

I wish the weather in England was more often like it’s been these past few days! The kids absolutely love playing outside with water.

From our adult perspective, it might not look like anything special… but when you see it through a child’s eyes, there’s a whole world of learning and development happening right there. A real goldmine of benefits!

Just think about it:
• 💧Sensory exploration – the feel of water, different temperatures, textures, splashes
• 👐Gross and fine motor skills – pouring, scooping, running, jumping, coordination
• 💭Imagination and creativity – turning water play into pretend cooking, magical potions, or pirate adventures
• 🧐Problem-solving and experimentation – “What happens if…?”, making dams, figuring out how to fill containers
• 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒Social skills – sharing, turn-taking, teamwork, negotiating water rules
• 🗣️Language development – describing actions, asking questions, storytelling
• 😌Emotional regulation – calming effect of water, expressing joy and excitement safely

So yes, let’s have more sun, more splashes, more muddy little feet… and lots more happy learning!

How to Handle a Toddler Tantrum Without Losing Your Mind

We’ve all been there — the sudden, unexpected meltdown over the wrong color cup or the great injustice of not buying a second ice cream.

When your child has a tantrum, here’s the most important thing to remember: Stay calm.
(Yes, easier said than done. But you’re the lighthouse in their storm.)

Here’s a simple guide to surviving and even helping:
1. Stay close and stay calm.
They’re feeling big feelings and need your steady presence more than anything.
2. Validate their emotions.
You don’t have to agree, but saying “I see you’re really upset” shows you’re on their side emotionally, even if you can’t give them what they want.
3. Keep your boundaries firm and kind.
Tantrums are a test of emotions, not a negotiation. Calmly stick to your “no” if needed.
4. Offer a safe space.
Sometimes kids need to scream it out. Let them know you’re there when they’re ready for a hug.
5. Reflect afterwards.
When the storm passes, talk about what happened. Help them find words for their feelings so next time, there might be fewer screams and more “I’m mad because…”

Remember: A tantrum isn’t bad behavior. It’s a normal part of emotional growth.
Your calm is teaching them how to find theirs.

You’ve got this. One deep breath at a time.
