π A Buzzing Brilliant Visit! π
Today we were delighted to welcome our Governor Mr Duke, along with Mrs Duke, who shared their fascinating knowledge of bees and beekeeping with our children πΌβ¨
The children loved learning all about pollination and just how important bees are for helping plants and flowers to grow πΈ. We also discovered some amazing facts about different types of bees, including the fascinating Leaf Cutter Bee, a real little engineer of nature!
Mr and Mrs Duke gave us a wonderful insight into how beehives are cared for, showing the children what it takes to look after a healthy, happy hive ππ‘. There were lots of great questions and plenty of enthusiastic future beekeepers in the making!
To finish off our buzzing afternoon, the children enjoyed a very special honey tasting π―π. They sampled two delicious varieties, one that Mr Duke had helped to harvest himself, and another super local treat from Newton Solney, produced by local apiarist
A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Duke for such an engaging and memorable visit. What a sweet way to learn! ππ

We had a truly thoughtful and reflective Spirituality Day in school today π
A huge thank you to Mrs Meyrick, our Chair of Governors, who planned and led the day alongside Revds Steve, John and Anna. The day was carefully designed to give our children time to reflect, explore and express their thoughts and feelings.
Despite the heat, the children did incredibly well and engaged beautifully in a range of activities, including singing, designing their own churches, writing prayers, and creating spiritual artwork.
There were also special moments of quiet reflection, where children thought about safe and special places, alongside opportunities to share their ideas about our school through pupil voice.
It was a calm and meaningful day, full of creativity, reflection and pride in our school community πΏβ¨

We had a wonderful start to Mouse Club this morning β it was a huge success!
Thank you to all the families who attended; it was so lovely to meet you all. The children had a fantastic time choosing their very own mouse and helping them get ready for school through lots of fun and engaging activities.
We canβt wait to welcome the children and their mice back next week as they enjoy a full day of transition in the classroom environment. πβ¨

β¨ Weβre ready for Mouse Club! πβ¨
We are so excited to welcome our new families tomorrow for our very first Mouse Club session β a special part of our transition programme for children starting with us in September.
Our hall is all set with lots of exciting activities for the children and their little mice to explore and enjoy together! π§Έ
Mouse Club is a wonderful way to gently prepare children for school. By caring for their mouse and bringing it along to sessions, children have something familiar and comforting with them. This simple idea can make such a big difference β helping to ease worries, build confidence and create positive feelings about starting school.
This approach is inspired by research from psychologist Suzanne Zeedyk, who highlights how special objects can help children feel safe, secure and ready to explore new experiences. π§‘
We canβt wait to meet our new starters and see their mice begin their own school adventure!

β¨ A truly beautiful celebration at Derby Cathedral β¨
Our children had the most wonderful experience performing in the Music in Schools Celebration Concert at Derby Cathedral today, alongside two other schools. It was such a special opportunity to come together and share the incredible progress the children have made over the year.
The children sang their hearts out and showcased everything they have learned with their fantastic Music in Schools teacher Mrs Robinson. We couldnβt be more proud of them!
A huge thank you to Newton Solney PCC for generously funding this programme and enabling our children to take part in such an inspiring opportunity. We are so grateful.
Thank you also to everyone involved in organising such a special event, to the parents who came along to support, and most importantly to our amazing children for their joyful, uplifting singing.
π Our hearts were truly filled with joy. π

We are incredibly proud to share that one of our pupils was nominated for the Bishopβs Badge Award and was presented with this special honour at Derby Cathedral today.
The beautiful service celebrated children from across Derbyshire, recognising the wonderful contributions they have made to the mission and ministry of the Diocese of Derby. It was a real pleasure to see all the children receiving their well deserved awards.
Our pupil received this recognition for their generous faith β choosing to swap a warm, comfortable bed for a cardboard box and spending the night outdoors to raise awareness and funds for the YMCA, supporting young people, families and our local community. Such compassion and courage at such a young age is truly inspiring.
He was proudly supported by his family, his great friend, Mrs Gamble and Revβd Steve.
A beautiful service and a very well deserved award. A true reflection of our school values and a wonderful role model for others.
Well done! We are so proud of you! β
