Supporting the next generation of architectural technologists is vital to the future of the UK construction industry.
Earlier this year, we welcomed first-year students from Nottingham Trent University to our Burton site for a roofing course and a tour of our manufacturing facilities. It was rewarding to hear how the experience supported their learning and informed their end-of-year Passivhaus projects for the NTU Degree Show 2026.
We were pleased to continue supporting the course by awarding cash prizes to the two strongest projects. Congratulations to Madison Gammons, whose winning two-storey Passivhaus design skilfully incorporated a solar PV solution for local energy generation, and to Niya Maxwell, who received second place for her detached home project in The Park, Nottingham.

How can you ensure that your business stays ahead of the curve? At Marley, we believe that investing in our people is a key pillar of success.
We are proud to say that our commitment to training and development delivers more than additional qualifications; our colleagues routinely exceed the standard and prove that excellence is what results from a positive, growth-orientated workplace culture.
Recently, Denis Popescu, our Senior Marketing Executive, who is currently undertaking a Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship, won not only Nottingham Trent University's Outstanding Apprentice of the Year: Construction & Engineering prize, but also the prestigious NTU Apprentice of the Year 2026 award. We congratulate him on surpassing expectations and displaying an impressive performance while having to balance both workplace and academic demands.
Many of our colleagues who have completed their apprenticeships have equally proven themselves as high achievers, as their hard work and ambition bore fruit in the form of distinctions.
Today, we'll zoom in on three of our members who have earned their distinctions in the 2025-2026 period.
Ben Warner, Area Specification Manager, obtained his exemplary result as part of a Level 3 ILM qualification. Ben reflects on the experience: “Completing the Level 3 Team Leader course was challenging but also extremely rewarding. I’ve learnt a lot of new techniques and tools that I can apply to my role. One of the biggest benefits was learning how to be more rounded and to understand various models about empathy, needs, and feedback.”
Julian Hill, Commercial Support Manager, achieved his distinction upon completing a Level 4 Data Fellowship Apprenticeship. “I would encourage others to pursue further learning and development through similar schemes. In my role, technology advances at a fast pace and by embracing learning, I feel that I am better placed to keep up with these ever-changing systems and methods,” Julian notes.
Declan Cooper, National Accounts Manager, skilfully navigated the challenging task of pursuing growth through the ILM Level 5: diploma for operational leaders and managers while handling the responsibilities of his role at the same time. His hard work earned him a distinction and helped him sharpen his business acumen even further in the process.
Although we have explored only a small fraction of the remarkable journeys of professional development that constantly take place at Marley, we wish to extend our commendations to all of our members of staff who went above and beyond to help us foster the expertise we pride ourselves on.

The more time water spends on the surface of a roof, the higher the likelihood of problems starting to show up, so when specifying low-pitched roofs, extra consideration must be given to their lower water drainage rates. See what you need to know: https://bit.ly/43jyfII
