Link here to wee film of the Sri Chinmoy Scottish 5km Championship race on Friday night. I had an enjoyable marshalling shift helping set up/take down. So many absolute speed ninja's at this race...🤣

Ooft!…..that thing was a bit windy and wet!. Happy with my efforts all in all.
Challenging conditions for sure but could have been a lot worse!, the temperature wasn’t that bad and thankfully the heavy rain was periodic rather than relentless for hours, we even had a bit of a tailwind most of the way! 370 DNF out of 630 starters shows it wasnt all fun and games though! 😅
My UTMB index expired years ago and so I started in the peasants wave half an hour after the higher UTMB index classes rolled off the start line.. 😉
Tried to work my way through the field gradually at a sustainable pace for the miles to come, constantly questioning my effort level as I passed each person. I had great butler service from my crew legend Mat at the 4 aid stations. Arc marshals constantly offering their help also.
So good when the daylight finally started to come around St Ives, as I passed some amazing houses near the beach.
Great to cross the line and find out I was 11th overall and 1st vet 50 which is a great result for me at such a big race.
Thanks to all who followed my dot and commented here/there/strava/faceboast/insta etc
Highly recommended race, get yourself there next Jan!

In the time honoured attention seeking tradition ("people have to know!) its time for me to race once again!. Not the best time of year for it but hey ho!. For a change, it's not even in the Lake District! I will be toeing the line at the Arc of Atttition 100 mile ultra in Cornwall on Friday.

4 days to go to express your interest in a team Scotland place. A new race in the lakes taking in Scafell from Keswick and back, 53km with 2640m elevation. If like me you're not quite in national team like form/pace you could just give the race a go anyway ;-) https://www.runthrough.co.uk/event/runthrough-lake-district-running-festival-2026
