Being part of the wider community is important to us. Tesco kindly donated some apples yesterday, so we made apple crumble!
Through baking the children learn:
Maths: skills by counting, measuring and comparing.
Physical development: stirring, mixing and using fine motor skills to chop and strengthen fine motor skills.
Communication&language: following instructions, discussing what we are doing, what we are doing next.
PSED: turn-taking, taking on a role, working together to create as a group.
Understanding the world: observe how ingredients changes.

It's not just Old Mcdonald who had a farm!
Partou had a visit from some animals today!
The children were given the opportunity to learn on a hands-on experience, exploration and play. It promoted curiousity, independence and a deeper, holistic understanding of our natural world.
We investigated the animals, remained engaged and motivated and made connections with what they already know. We talked about home experiences of going to a farm with our parents to. We were able to engage and ask lots of questions!
Communication & language - asked questions, listened to fun facts with the farmers, learnt new vocab around the farming world. Discussed what they could hear, smell and see, as well as share experiences.
P.S.E.D - Building confidence in a new environment, caring and handling animals, having boundaries, empathy, responsibility and respect for living things. Encouraged co-operation and soclai interactions.
Mathematics - We compared sizes, spoke about growth, identified patterns and spoke about language such as older, younger, bigger and smaller.
Understanding the world - We learnt how to care for animals, what they ate, their likes and dislikes, habitats and other farming knowledge.

Communication boards are essential - they provide an inclusive way for children to express needs, make choices and develop communication.
It promotes inclusivity, encourages independence, supports language development and reduces frustration.
Here at Partou Habergham we ensure that inclusivity is promoted throughout all room. Here's a snippet of daily preschool life between two friends.

"If you go down into the woods today...."
What a wonderful experience to have right on our doorstep at Partou Habergham.
We took a trip into the woods to test our physical abilities, carry out sensory circuits and have lots of fun! We saw pigs, chickens, horses and even tadpoles.
Communication&Language - We were able to discuss what we could see and hear, aswell as tell all our friends when we got back to nursery. We shared experiences of when we have been out with our parents and past and future events.
Physical development - Risky play! We climbed, flipped, ran, marched and crept into the woods aswell as walking quite a long distance! We were able to test our strength and abilities as we made our way through the long wavy grass, and thick oozy mud!
Benefits of sensory circuits - designed to help regulate senses, process information and achieve the ideal level of alertness. They improve focus and concentration, enhance motor skills and co-ordination, help self regulation, reduce anxieties and allow the children to prepare to learn.

Makaton helps young children communicate before they speak clearly. It combines speech, hand signs and picture symbols to reduce frustration, help language development, and build an inclusive environment where every child feels heard and understood!

Sunshine, flowers, and a little bit of magic in our garden! ππΌ
While we made the most of the beautiful weather, Jackie helped us transform our front garden into a colourful, sensory space. The children explored how flowers grow, stopping to smell, touch, and really experience nature all around them. πΏβ¨
We even had some very exciting visitorsβ¦ mini beasts! ππ The children were fascinated watching them up close, sparking lots of curiosity and questions.
To finish our adventure, we snuggled up with the story Superworm, which the children absolutely loved after discovering their own wriggly friends. It even inspired a new idea β βCan we go on a bug hunt?β ππ
