What another amazing week!

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our new Reception class to their very first Celebration Assembly today. They did a fantastic job!

As always, it was wonderful to celebrate all the amazing achievements happening both inside and outside of school. A huge well done to our Special Stars and Wizards of the Week! 🧙

We've been asked to share this fantastic free activity starting soon for our school community:

Looking for some screen-free fun with the kids? Head down to Barrowford Library every Monday afternoon for their brand-new Family Board Games Club! Enjoy board games, jigsaws, Lego, and Duplo together.

🗓 When: Every Monday (starting 14th Sept), 3:30pm – 4:30pm

💰 Cost: FREE (Drop-in, no booking needed)

📍 Where: Barrowford Library

👗 FONs Fashion Show – Friday 16th October 👗

Friends of Newchurch School (FONs) and Wardrobe by Simone are bringing back our popular FONs Fashion Show for another evening of fashion, shopping and fundraising.

Join us at Barley Village Hall for a great night with friends, a glass of fizz and a chance to see the latest styles from Wardrobe by Simone.

📅 Friday 16th October

⏰ Doors open: 7:00pm | Catwalk starts: 8:00pm
🎟️ Tickets: £20

Your ticket includes a glass of fizz on arrival and supper.

📩 A letter with all the details will be sent home in children’s bags tonight.

🌟 Our First Celebration Assembly! 🌟

What a wonderful way to end our first week back at school with our very first Celebration Assembly of the new school year!

There was lots to celebrate, including our amazing Special Stars of the Week and our Wizards of the Week — well done to everyone who received an award!

We were also delighted to see George and Olivia sharing their certificates for the CrossFit classes they have recently started attending. They are really enjoying the sessions and it’s fantastic to see them trying something new, challenging themselves and having lots of fun along the way!

🌟 A very special certificate! 🌟

Today, all of our new Reception children were presented with a very special certificate to celebrate completing their first week at St Mary’s!

We are so incredibly proud of them. They have all settled in amazingly, made new friends and shown such confidence during their first week.

It has been lovely watching them become part of our school family, and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful things they will achieve during their time with us.

Parents of children in Years 3, 4 and 5, please check your emails for details of an after-school cricket event taking place on Monday 7th September at Pendle Vale College.

⏰ 4:00pm – 5:30pm
📍 Pendle Vale College

It’s short notice, but if your child would like to take part, please contact the school office as soon as possible.

Please remember that children will need to be transported to the event and accompanied by an adult throughout. Miss Kirkbright will also be there.

🌱 Gardening Club is back! 🌱

Gardening Club was back yesterday and the children came with so much enthusiasm!

We’d also like to welcome Daniel and Miss Fallon, who will be helping us out each week. We’re so pleased to have them join us!

We talked about our plans for this half term before getting stuck into lots of digging, weeding and getting everything ready. Even Garry the snail made an appearance!

We also picked some apples from our tree to take home, ready for some baking.

Lots of teamwork, getting our hands dirty and having fun along the way!
