Our Wake Up Shake Up session is happening every Thursday morning, and is always in high attendance.

Not only is this a fantastic way to get moving and keep active, but it’s also the ultimate opportunity to throw balls at the staff!

Yes, you read that right. Come along, burn some energy, and aim directly at your favorite staff members. 🎯👀

She was the very first person to lace up and join Oaklands in walking 30 miles for Dementia UK!

It was a little cool out there today, but that didn't stop her from enjoying the lovely sights of Harle Syke.

🚶‍♀️💙 Oaklands is walking 30 miles this September for Dementia UK! 💙🚶‍♂️

Throughout September, our wonderful residents and team will be getting their steps in and taking on the 30-mile challenge to raise money for Dementia UK—a charity very close to our hearts.

Look out for us on our walks around Harle Syke, and if you spot us, please come over, say hello and give our residents some encouragement! 👋😊

Every step we take will help support families affected by dementia. We’ll be sharing updates throughout the month, so keep following our journey and cheering us on!

Bank Holiday done right at Oaklands! 🍫🍓❤️

What better way to spend a Bank Holiday than with a little bit of baking… and, of course, plenty of chocolate!

Our residents got stuck in making some delicious homemade brownies completely from scratch — mixing, stirring, baking and, most importantly, carrying out the all-important taste tests! 😋

We served our freshly baked brownies with a colourful selection of fresh fruit for a lovely afternoon treat. 🍓🫐🍌

And as every good baker knows, there’s one rule that simply can’t be ignored… someone has to lick the spoon! 😂🍫 Not a bit of chocolate was going to waste at Oaklands!

It’s these simple, everyday moments that we love — spending time together, having a laugh, enjoying familiar activities and, at the end of it all, sharing something delicious that we’ve made together. 💚

Safe to say, the brownies received the Oaklands seal of approval! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Rainy bank holiday Sunday done right. 🌧️✨

Nothing beats a mug of hot chocolate loaded with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a Flake, while watching Practical Magic on Netflix. ☕🔮

🍟 FRY-YAY! It’s Friday! 🐟🍟

Who doesn’t love a good chippy dinner on a Fry-day?! 😋

After saying goodbye to the lovely warm weather and welcoming back the very British rain ☔, everyone at Oaklands decided there was only one thing for it… a Friday chippy treat! 🐟🍟

Our household model of care is all about making Oaklands feel like home — sharing everyday moments, making choices together and enjoying the simple things that bring us happiness. And what could feel more homely than collectively deciding that a rainy Friday definitely calls for fish and chips? ❤️

There were plenty of smiles as everyone tucked in, and of course our wonderful staff joined in too. Sitting down and enjoying lunch together is exactly what our household approach is about — residents and staff sharing mealtimes, conversation and laughter together as one Oaklands family. 🥰

Rain outside, smiles inside and full tummies all round… we’d say that’s a Fry-day well spent! 💙
